111mm Paramedic Knife
on: November 18, 2020, 03:26:28 PM

Not seen this on the wiki .... but I may have missed it

6 layers side lock with the rescue / seatbelt cutter

The Logo is the Swiss Paramedic Association

Vereinigung Rettungssanitäter Schweiz VRS
Association Suisse des Ambulanciers ASA
Associazione Svizzera Soccorritori ASS

It's basically a work champ with a seatbelt cutter rather than a metal saw

That's awesome! I really like those unusual, exotic SAKs!

For now I've added it as a variation of the Workchamp in the Wiki.

Nice find!

I remember that earlier somebody posted similar knife (like an Outrider + belt-cutter), but I cannot find this topic or pictures...

Interesting - not seen this before! Like Leaf, the name does ring a bell but I could only come up with this https://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=80718.0 However, I do remember seeing a knife with white scales and a red cross somewhere, but I could be having a senior moment!!

I found one more picture of this knife in my local folder "SAKs images grabbed from the internet", but unfortunately, I cannot remember author and \ or source of this image, probably it was taken from some group on FB. Hope, its author is present here, on MTO, as wella

Well to be brutally frank it never made the cut for the collection and has been living in the bottom of a massive box of knives which I was trying to sort though (Time to work on your collection the one benefit of this whole Covid thing)

It was having it picture taken to go up on ebay as a workchamp when I noticed the rescue tool

It could well be a special order for this Swiss organisation , a run of Workchamps with the with the metal saw replaced with the seatbelt cutter would not cause a massive disruption in the factory and I imagine victorinox like most companies are a little more flexible when the request is coming from an organisation whose members may one day be cutting you out of a car crash :)

How many other SAKs have the Star of Life emblem on them? This one's on my list just for that. At one time, I considered joining the rescue squad as a volunteer (my grandparents and my Dad were all volunteer EMTs for a few years each), but there were way more reasons for me NOT to be in EMS than for me to be in EMS. If I were an EMT, I'd go with the Polizia Di Stato (Rescue Tool plus woodsaw).  I'm guessing production of this knife predates the linerlock--correct?

Heavy, but if I were in EMS, I'd chose this over the Raptor any day, along with a good pair of trauma shears (which is the X Shears followed by ADC Medicut--with the Medicut being cheap and good; thus if they get a lot of blood on them, just throw them away and get out a new pair).

Wow - That is amazing Jaydar - Thanks for sharing

Can we put the images in the Wiki gallery please?  - I think you may have already given us blanket permission to do this -   :)  - But just checking    :salute:

Also adding this thread to the SAK Clubs stickie - Thanks RP   :tu:

For now I've added it as a variation of the Workchamp in the Wiki.

I think that is a good idea R    8)

Should we put one of the images bottom right of the page, by identifiers etc - It would fit nicely there
- I reckon the fourth image would be the best one as it shows the icon on the scales and the SB cutter

Hi Reinier,

PS. One small point from the Workchamp page - You say:
"A special version made for the Swiss Paramedic Association replaces the metal saw with the seat belt cutter from the Rescue Tool."

Whereas the seat belt cutter in this model is not from the RT it's the one from the Fireman - Is that correct?   ???

You're right! I was mistaken - obviously. Sorry
