Making a few of these slips. Tried antiquing and airbrushed fade on this one. I’ve never used an airbrush before and it shows. Should have practiced a bit more :dunno:. Still think it turned out pretty good.

 Thanks PitCarver! Yeah, basket weave really classes up an otherwise bland project. I am on the hunt for some different weave pattern stamps to try out.

Finally got my Trapper that I ordered a while ago and today had a chance to work on an open top belt sheath for it. I visited my local leather shop yesterday and picked up some supplies. Among them was this slightly different basket weave which adds some curvature rather than all straight lines giving a more three dimensional look.

Not nearly in the same class, but here's a little pouch I made to carry my vintage Tourist. I made it a little larger than needed, so I can use it for other SAKs (no problem getting a Farmer in it) or any of the small folders I carry from time to time.

Reviving a topic. This is a belt pouch for my Farmer X and Olight i3T EOS. The Zippo belt pouch is for a friend of my wife as a gift for her boyfriend. Hope he likes it.

Can I ask you something? I make my sheaths from tanned leather, but apply no product on them. Because of that, sometimes the copper pieces in some knives, after being stored there, gain that green (verdigris?) layer, due to oxydation. Is there any product(s) you apply to your leather, so as not to cause this?

I’d agree hobby but at a professional level! I can do my basics but they look nothing like yours, yet one other thing I did was take company made and customized them, as you can see in the pic I ripped all the stitching out and then restitched it with red, but then also added stitching around the flap to give it a little more umph,, but the top one is one I made from scratch.. I didn’t have any dye, so what household liquid changes the tan to black, vinegar? All I know is it spent like two weeks between the window and screen cause it stunk!

 I am still exploring products to apply to protect the leather and the object. I like using acrylic Resolene to seal the leather and weather proof it. I mix it roughly 50/50 with water and mix then apply with a flannel like cloth in a circular motion. In addition to protecting the leather it stops dye rub off on clothes. I would imagine that it would protect against oxidation for anything inside the sheath if the inside of the sheath is treated. Although,  it might be best to store knives that tarnish easily seperate from their sheath.

 Lol never would have thought to use vinegar. I am a strong proponent of customizing and making something your own. The red restitch looks great!
