Powerassist - Bass Pro Shops
on: November 01, 2008, 10:49:05 PM
Don't know if they've hit any online retailers yet, but today I saw the Powerassist (stainless version) at Bass Pro Shops in Mass.  $79.99.

It was behind glass and the guy behind the counter was busy with someone else, but I got a good look at it...it's a big and I'm assuming HEAVY tool.  Pretty intimidating looking compared to the Leatherman and Gerber tools it was alongside :D

Was it bigger than the Powerlock??

It looked "fatter" than the standard Powerlock...the plier head looks longer and sleeker though.

www.sogknives.com has it for an October 2008 release date..and they are out there, but a little slow to get onto online retailers I guess...I checked ebay and there's none on there and that's one of the places things show up first

The Bass Pro Shop website shows the PowerAssist:

But the girl on the phone tells me there are none available for shipment. :(

Wouldn't it be nice if the 66 had all the stuff bass pro shops list.  A file and 1/4" socket drive would be awesome.  I would of much rather had non assisted opening blades and more tools.  Oh well the SOG lover in me makes me want to buy it,  but at the same time I hate where SOG is going.

The last knife I bought from them was the Tac auto ST-02,  I love the knife very well built and a great cutter.  But the damn thing has SOG written on it in 4 different places.  It's just kinda tacky looking. Now seeing the SOG cut out on the 66 just makes me not even want it.  I wish they would quit doing that crap.  I promise I will never forget who made my B60 even though it only has SOG on it in 3 places and no big ass cut out on one of the handles.

Oh well sorry for ranting.  Anyone else feel the same way?

List the product before it's in stock, then take their money so they won't spend less somewhere else then the product actually sees the shelves.
