Can't find a value...
on: November 23, 2017, 05:04:45 PM
Recently got my paws on an 84mm Golfer with fluted corkscrew, long nail file and horn scales. Aluminum tipped tweezers.
Oh and it's NIB too!

I think I've got a rare beasty in my hands but I'm not sure...
Can't find anything about it apart from 1 pic on SAKwiki in the 84mm Golfer section.
So, anybody got an idea about how rare it is? If at all?

What value are we talking about?

If I was going to sell one, anywhere from E 75 - E 100.

Glad you have a rarity :like: If you would take some very pristine pics and add it or have someone who edits the wiki add them to it that would be cool 8)

Is there any damage to the scale where the tweezers stuck? That would diminish its value rather quickly.

Are you wondering if you paid too much, or do you want to sell it?

Selling isn't going to happen since I got I way to cheap to bug me.

Just curious if this is a once in a lifetime find.

The hole is half a mm deeper then on the toothpick side. Nothing else visible.

I understand. My most expensive one is an '85 mother of pearl SwissChamp that's worth about 5 thousand bucks.  :D

Until I go to sell it, that just devalues the heck out of them.

So is RoSchro the only one who shares a price here? :pok:

Any info on this one is appreciated.
(Like production date?)

I´m guessing here.... late forties, early fifties. The long nailfile on the back appeared in 1942. The new file dates back to 1952.

There´s an overview in the Everything you need to know brochure published in 2008.

PS prices may fluctuate wildly because of changes in demand and supply.

No idea how old the MOP Swiss Champ is.

I bought it (and a lot of other stuff) from a long-time SAK dealer who had a lot of old stock buried in his back room, and let me dig around in there.

In the second shot, the left hand side of the handle is also colorful, but the light seemed to pick up one part or the other, not both at the same time.

Thanks CS.

It's an oldie, narrow pliers so '87 or before, probably the twin to mine or from the same batch. The MOP is very hard to capture in photos, the depth of color and luminescence has to be seen in real life to appreciate.

The MOP Swisschamp went out of production not too long ago. At the time, NIB price was about E 300. I´ve seen one sold for E 450.
