After doing some thinking I realize the 1973 date i put on the F.A. was not correct after hearing what you said. With that being said can you guys help me determine the date of this farmer. Let me know if you need any other pictures to help get a year of manufacture. If it's just not possible I would understand.

I do t think it’s possible to get an exact date, the best you can do is a range. Part of the challenge, too, is that for every change there is a date range where it is phased in, meaning you can see knives with “older” features after the introduction of new ones. Plus, the changes for the 91mm cellidor line (which are pretty well documented) don’t always transfer well to the 93mm alox line.

Here are the relevant clues, as far as I know:
1) can opener loses “+ pat” mark around 1970.
2) bottle opener loses scraper grind around mid-1970’s
3) little “v” VSSR tang stamp through 1985
4) Around 1980 on the cellidor models, the saw back spring gained a little  bump where the saw tip rests. Idk if this changed on the 93mm alox line.
5) brass liners start to disappear around 1985.

Based on this, your knife could be anywhere from the early 60’s when they switched to the current style awl to around 1985. My guess, based on the tool finish and shape of the squares on the scales, is that this isles likely from the 80’s, though that’s not 100% dispositive.
If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

I agree on @Gustophersmob 's analysis for dating this knife.  It's a lovely knife, and you should feel privileged to have it.

It's obviously personal preference, but I think these do much better with a keyring and Vx nylon fob/lanyard.  The chain you have on the knife could damage the Alox scales, and could also damage the blade if it fouls on it while closing.

If the original keyring was trashed, you can replace it with a Vx original replacement part and not affect the knife's value or function.

Congratulations on this fine OC Farmer!

I just realized how I wrote this was a little messed up.

I intended  that the switch to the “new” style awl happened in the early 60’s part be another point in the list and then to say in the last paragraph that based on all those items yours is from the mid-70’s to about 1985. My guess is in the 80’s.
