Lock picking?

I am looking at picking up a set of lock picks and I figured I'd best check here first and see if anyone has any advice before I do.

I know a little about picking locks, but it has been a great many years since I did it with any frequency.

I never really got into it but I did get a little something, I forget what it’s called but the blue screwdriver looking thing, the clip comes off and is the part used to keep pressure on the lock to turn it as the pick comes out where the screwdriver would be, I must say simple Master locks are a piece of cake!

I have a set of Southard's I think they are called.  It's more of a full set for pack carry but I also have a single rake and tension bar around 3 inches in length that I can carry on me anywhere.

The set is overkill but when I bought it it was only like $24 so couldn't pass it up.

Do not do what I did. This is overkill. All you really need it the Genesis set listed above. I made the mistake of buying a big Southord set as a newbie. You do not need all of this but I have it.

I have a very cheap HPC set.  Its capable of the basics tho better materials give better feedback.

I have picked many locks in my life, most of them for legit purposes. 

Mostly right now I have just been motivated to pick up a new set of lock picks as I have misplaced the key for the trigger locks on my guns.  They are very easy locks to pick from what I have read, and I'll replace them with combination locks instead.   

Which, as I understand it, are also very easy to pick!   

At least I won't have to pick them though!

I did, however, have to pick the lock to get into my gun case because the case lock is on the same ring as the trigger lock keys.

Combination locks are pretty easy to pick.  I've picked a few locks myself and its always fun.  Nothing big just random locks I bought from the flea market that were locked but no key.
