I couldn't help myself.
on: December 27, 2017, 02:30:30 AM
Again thanks to Syem.  :tu:  I have a new soon to be 49 year old SAK, and a set of new Ruby scales.  Now all I had to do was find that SAK in my pocket with the chipped scale and change them out.  Well with the help of the soon to be 49 year old SAK, this soon to be 49 year old just did his first scale change.  Far easier than I thought it would be.  I even got the old ones off intact and still usable.   :woohoo:
Now I just need to order a pen and strait pin to fill the open slotts in my new scales.
MTO store I'll be visiting on payday... :ahhh

Hi Douglas, nice find.

I may be reading this wrong, but, are you saying that you have recently acquired a 49 year old SAK, and that you just removed the chipped 49 year old scales from it, and replaced them with those ruby ones?

Because if that is the case, then either that SAK is not 49 years old, or some previous owner had already swapped out the scales for a post-1990's set. You can tell by the hollow spaces and method of affixing the inlay from the back of the scales. Also, the snap ring may not add up, and I would want to see a clear pic of the cork screw to see if there is an air groove.

Unless you mean that you used a 49 year old SAK to remove the scales of another SAK and swap those out...in which case, please ignore this message, as I would be all wet on this one.

Actually, it was my own BY SAK post :D

Nice scale swap and congrats for the badge! Good to see them in use as they would still be sitting in my spare parts box with all the other ones otherwise.

I'm sorry; I should've thought about the pin and pen and I do have a couple spare ones too!
