I've got a vintage circa 1974 Victorinox Hiker to sell and I thought I would let fellow MTO members have a chance before I put it up on eBay. My dating logic is as follows:
1) it has the awl with no sewing eye so prior to 1985 via Huntsman's tool evolution dating chart (
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,51872.0.html),
2) the rare square-shank back spring Phillips with no file and no can key - file dropped circa 1969 and can key on square Phillips from 1973 through 1983,
3) it has the C8 tang stamp ("Victorinox Switzerland Stainless Rostfrei") from Ulli's Tang Stamp thread so 1952 to 1986 (
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,50014.0.html) and
4) the opposite tang has the P1 tang stamp so 1974 to 2005.
If interested send me a PM with what you would be interested in paying for it via PayPal. Buyer pays shipping limited to US and Canada since it’s expensive shipping overseas and I have no experience at it. (If any overseas member is
really interested in it perhaps we can discuss how to do it.) Priority mail is easiest but the buyer can determine mailing class and insurance. If there's no interest after two weeks I will take it down and move it elsewhere.
Note: I cleared this with Def before posting. I’m not trying to stage a bidding war type of auction. I’m not experienced with the value of vintage SAKs and I want to have a fair deal for both seller (me) and the buyer. I would definitely rather someone from the forum get it than a stranger from eBay.
Here are the pics. Any questions or need for more pics just post in the thread and I'll post an answer as soon as I can.
Thanks, lichan.
