Anybody into a good strong camp knife handmade by Jim Sasser? My friend has one that is used and shows it but looks like it still would work really well. Its about 7½ inches long with micarta handle. What is this thing worth? Any ideas?

Sasser was popular out west. When I was hunting in Colorado during the 80's and 90's I  saw one of his knives being used by a guide. It looked to have been well made,if my recollection is accurate.I believe the guide claimed Sasser hailed from Colorado.A knife made by a lesser known maker like Sasser would probably bring around $200 to $300.00 in good condition. The knife shown in your post is in rough condition. The point looks like it has been reworked and the edge has been mutilated by someone who knows little about proper sharpening.

I could only hazard a guess as to value and that would be $100 to $150.00.

Thanks for posting the picture.

Thanks for the input Toolguy! I had never seen one before so when I did a quick Google search it surprised me. The knife is very well made with solid handle and thick blade. Too bad someone ruined the blade tip. It still has some great blade area to use. I was considering buying it but I am short of funds and I do not hunt or camp anymore due to health.

Here are some more photos I took with my cell phone so they are not very good.

I have a fixed blade knife of Undercover which is made from one steel tang and is a really sharp knife. It also has a half serrated blade edge which makes it even more tactical.
If I need to pick some good EDC tools.
Then I would take my love leatherman multi tool wave and a flash light. Other are just a waste !!!

It's a 2nd Gen Boker+ TUF. The originals had wood scales, polished blade and leather sheath, but several weeks after I'd ordered it, Heinnies got back to me to tell me it was discontinued. This one has a stonewashed blade, micarta scales and a kydex sheath.

Thanks mate. Yes, that's the one  :) the idea was a food knife that could be used for other stuff, rather than a "woods" knife that could be used for food. So far, I'm rather chuffed with it, and it looks like it would handle some other utility tasks quite well. Maybe not best choice for batonning hardwood logs, but it could do if you got caught out. I'll try to dig out the CS Roach Belly this weekend (the previous hot favourite for the role) and see how they compare side by side on food prep.

I'd guess with that full flat grind it'll be good for your food prep. :tu:

Yup, the only thing I'm not sure about long term (regarding food) is the stonewash finish

Not stunning or interesting, but cheap thick and comfortable in the hand. They should make pretty good work knives for me, also the first fixed blades I purchased for myself. I'm going to need to make individual sheaths for them as I have no plans of skinning so I won't need both at a time.

Yup, mostly got it for the smaller knife for salt fishing. They feel good in hand though, not Mora good but good nonetheless.

I've owned of few of his knives over the years.I've also owned a sheath that would clip onto the inside of my boot.

M. C. S. Multi carry system.  It got a combo sheath with clip, chain, belt loop that has held up fantastic.

I'd like to find a nicer one. Probably a tanto . They had some nice ones with better steel and handles.
