Gorgeous knife.

Now it does raise the question how the heck doe Les design this beauty as well as put his name on the Les Stroud MT?

Was in the bottom of one of my knife bags...don't think I posted it. Decent knock around knife that sharpens up well. Fits the hand very comfortably.

It's a practical (not tactical!) knife design. As its name would suggest.

If I remember rightly he also did an axe design that I really liked the look of as well.  Done with Wetterlings, I think?

Edit - yup, it was Wetterlings: http://www.wetterlings.com/bushman-axe-by-les-stroud/

I have a feeling that those two are truly his designs, unlike the cammilus ones that has probably been tampered with and changed by both marketing and the economy department.

I think the overall involvement of celebrities in the design of their "own" products is discussing their pay check. Do you assume that all these actresses design their own perfume and clothes ranges or have any idea/care about what they are?

If they happen to work with an established/good company like helle or Gerber you get a decent product. If they work with a low cost/Inexperienced company then you get a bad product.
....and they always claim to have chosen the best company and that many others were begging them to work with them but they were not willing to sell out..
If you read some interviews of Les you would think camillus was the same as LM.
On a different note the fixed blades seem OK.

I agree with you in general on the whole celeberity product indorsement thing.
But in the case of the Helle Temagami I think it was a little different. But this is pure speculation on my part.
1. If you go to Helles website the knife is credited with designed by: Les Stroud., a pic of Les and a link to his website thats it. All the other knives they make have a similar fact box where the designer is credited.
http://www.helle.no/products/knives/temagami/

2. The webshop I bought it from, actually had no mention of Les at all. Thats why I was surprised to discover that he was the designer when I got it.

3. Helle is a fairly small knife manufacturer. I dont think they could afford Les, unless he approached them with a knife design he wanted made.

In this case, and that was back in 2011. I think Les had an Idea for a knife he wanted to be made to sell in his webshop, and was looking for a serious knifemaker to make it. A bit like Dave Canterburys collaboration with Blind Horse Knives.
Maybe he had decided upon Helle from the start, or maybe he talked with other companies too.
Anyway, the temagami is in some aspects very different from Helles other knives. As far as I know, its the only half tang knife they have made. At the time, all their other knives where rat tail designs, wich suggests a new designer. And why cant that have been Les himself?
But this is pure speculation on my part.

Ohhhhhh....like that!  8)

I missed out on a Helle Bessegen (payday came too late) at a local gun shop, but fortunately I found somebody else willing to order some for me.
Want to get the Eggen and Bessegen, only laminated steel knives in my price range, and the Bessegen feels like it was made for my hand.

This is really much used puukko. It says Iivarin Puukkotehdas on it's blade. I have been using it for gardening, and construction.  So it has seen hard abuse. Today I sharpened it, and just used it for everything i came up with. Last thing i did with was spatula for grilling...
