Those guys at BRKT build some really nice knives.

I see several that I would buy. When the time is right I will add several to my overly bloated knife collection.LOL.

Congrats on buying some quality steel.

Thanks  everyone. Have to say the knife is a lot better than the sheath.Looks a lot sturdier than it is in reality(sheath), but decided to get one in case our exchange rate makes them totally out of reach. The blade shape is different but should be useful and the tip isn't as fine as I thought it might be.Glad I didn't get the bantam model now.

Here's a work in progress - picked up an Enzo Elver D2 flat grind kit recently*.  Includes a finished blade, machined (but oversize) scales with liners already glued in place, bolts for attaching the scales and a rather nice leather sheath.  I chose green linen micarta for the handles.  Decided on the flat grind as this is to be a general camping knife, and not a 'bushcraft' blade.  Prefer the flat grind for cooking - I've already got a Mora with Scandi grind.  Also picked the slightly smaller Elver (85mm blade) over the Trapper (95mm) as I wanted something a little smaller in the hand.

Keyed the tang and the inside of the liners for gluing.  I also sanded the blade end of the handle scales as they're hard to get to once the handles are bonded on.

Only had 5 minute epoxy and it was rather cold in the shed so no pics of the gluing.  Here's the knife clamped up for the glue to set.

Next step is to trim the bolts down nearly flush with the scales, then sand the edges of the handle back to the tang and finish with oil, varnish or similar.

* I was looking for a way to make the relatively low minimum order value from www.brisa.fi.  A new knife ought to do it.

I am looking for another fixed blade that would be between these two in size.

Sub 3" Wharncliffe style blade which can be pocket carried while sheathed.

Any suggestions?

No personal experience, but the one that springs to mind is the Vargo Wharn-Clip.

Not convinced it looks all that comfortable to me, but the fact the sheath can be used to extend the grip might be OK.

I'd suggest you look at the Boker Plus series.

Now, tell me about the knife in the top picture. That looks like it was made out of a farrier's file.  I like it.

It is a Michael Morris Wharncliffe. Nice and robust. Made from a farriers file I do believe. It is a stout blade. I am more of a slicer type of user. Spice of Life right?

Finished the Elver the other night.

Decided just to sand the handle and leave it un-waxed/oiled.  Went to 800 grit wet and dry and it's lovely and smooth in the hand.  Great shape to the handles and the blade's not too big.  Lovely sheath too.

It has a little "Joey" pouch.LOL.

I've often thought of contracting someone to create a sheath in order to carry two complimentary knives.

Congrats Gareth.

Awesome!

My Lightmyfire Mora got a lot of abuse over the December holidays.
It was pressed into surf fishing duty along with general bush clearing work.

It tool a bit of strain but never missed a beat.

Here is another of my Randalls. This happens to be one of the smallest,as far as blade length is concerned.

It is a Model 11 3 1/4 Alaskan Skinner. As the name indicates it has a 3 1/4" blade made from stainless steel. It's also equipped with thumb notches, nickel silver single hilt, black and aluminum spacers,a generous Sambar stag handle and finished with an aluminum butt cap.

What is the story with this knife? Never heard of an Elver before.
