I don't have a picture, but I spent the weekend with an old dog musher, and he was carrying a Grohmann Canadian Belt Knife. Quite possibly, the most gorgious medium-small fixed blade I have ever seen

do you know which one he had?  They sure are nice!

The sheath alone should cost at least 40.00.  I would be hard pressed to find a fixed bushcraft knife with these materials with a quality sheath for 90.00. It feels great in the hand, is sharp, and the spalted maple looks really nice.  I just need to put some superglue in the crack and some wood sealer and it will be a very nice edc woods knife.  Once the steel gets some patina to it, it will look really nice.

See, honestly, I'm surprised Spyderco didn't think of replacing the scales with G-10 or FRN after almost the entire batch cracked... then they'd not have had to sell them all as seconds and could've kept their profit margins quite high.

IIRC Sal said it wasn't cost effective to rip the old scales off, apparently they're pretty well stuck on there.  To much time and effort.

I think this one was for the fans.  This knife has been almost 4 years in the making, and I think Sal took it on the chin and offered it to people who have been waiting so long for it.  The next run I have heard will be S30v (or similar) and micarta scales.

Mine arrived yesterday...I got two Spydie-cracks...

I've already filled mine with Superglue and sanded the scales...It's sitting in a mixture of Turpentine and Linseed oil now.

So what went so wrong?  It's not like Spyderco were the first people to make a knife with a wooden grip. ???  So how come they all cracked?

The wood supplier screwed him...the wood was supposedly stabilized, but it turned out it wasn't.
