The phone is very important to my livelihood, so I have to answer whenever it rings.

Since everyone's needs will differ, there's no such thing as standard EDC. Most pictures I see have a knife and flashlight, if not multiples, plus wallet, phone, lighter, watch, pen. Might be some other stuff in there as well, but everyone has different tastes.

For myself, standard is phone, keys, wallet. This is the bare minimum I will leave the house with. Auxiliary items I typically include, but are by no means necessary, are my Classic, small flashlight, folded up bandana, comb, and sunglasses. Mighty bring pen and notebook and my LM Kick to work.

My basics:
SAK of some sort (atm Huntsman or SI)
Flaschlight (BD Storm)
Small First Aid Kit
Toilet Paper

Usually dont need a pen. Money and Phone too.
Can get by a lot of things that way. MT is carried sometimes too, but rarely needed.

Glasses
Knife, sharp
Flashlight
Screwdriver, straight (several sizes) and phillips (#2 ans #1), plus a mini of appropriate size if you wear glasses
Paper, writting utensil
Cash
ID
Socks and shoes (my feet get cold, and I hate stepping on things like rocks and broken glass)

I want to say Signals (audio), but I carry the whistle on my keys almost as a totem. It gets used a couple times a year, but when I need it, it's the best tool around and it takes up almost no space.

I want to say Signals (electronic), but that is an addiction talking.

I want to say Keys, but no, not really. Even if locked out of the house, I have those screwdrivers...  :whistle: We have a spare hidden but you need a screwdriver or coin to get to it.

I want to say Fire, but again, totemic, honestly. I carried the same lighter for four years, finally replaced it a couple weeks ago because it disintigrated in my pocket.

And I really, really want to say cordage. But.... paracord laces, and dental floss and a sewing needle in my wallet. Along with padlock shims, and a signal mirror, and dry button compass, and stuff that will burn...

My EDC essentials are quite simple:

- Cellphone (iPhone SE);
- SAK (mostly a 58mm alox Vagabond paired with a bigger SAK)
- Small flashlight (Fenix E05 or Thrunite Ti3)

This ^^^ is my basic EDC.

I usually add a bandana, but not always.

Id? Not always. Money? Not always.  Watch? Hardly ever.   Keys? Not really.

Often a lighter or ferro rod or matches. Often a length of string or cord. Often a compass. Sometimes a pen.

When I worked, I almost included a sink. Always had everything I could possibly need. When I got sick and couldn't work any more, we lost just about everything, including our home of 37 years. (long story) but stuff happens. Now I am disabled and renting in a not so stable area of this big city. My EDC consist of Wallet, Money, Pocket knife, and now a little Artifact I just found. My cell phone is always in the truck for emergencies, it's one of the little free government phones, I can't even spell Samrtphone. The biggest difference in my EDC came about when we moved, now I carry a Springfield 1911, more out of nescessity, than comfort.

My EDC essentials are quite simple:

- Cellphone (iPhone SE);
- SAK (mostly a 58mm alox Vagabond paired with a bigger SAK)
- Small flashlight (Fenix E05 or Thrunite Ti3)

Add a wallet/IDs (preferably with some money), handkerchief, hat (hat style differs with the season), cigarettes, bic lighter and I would agree with this as 'a bare essential EDC'. The very basic of places to start to build your personal preference list.
