I like Canoe frames, though they're not my favorite.  This is the last Canoe that I bought right before I got the covid last year.

The artisan wood scales matched well with the petrified wood worry stone.

So RR can do a long pull    :tu:

Whatever the history I'm loving your very probable version.  I like the Copperhead for the very reason the apprentice had his mishap.  On some trads those very sharp corners of the tang seem like an oversight.  I made a newbee post about exactly that and Steve educated me.  I also like that its not another clip point blade trad.

Lot to like about the pattern.

I have great respect for Steve’s knowledge and his photographic skills as well as his taste in pocket knives/slip joints.

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,87394.0.html

As I was learning, I began to see as most newbies do, differences.  Steve thankfully came along and schooled me.  What I also "learned" is, sunk and common joint.  I am still very new and learning.   I really appreciate each time anyone posts a question or neat knife, Steve, or David, and RIP Dean would come along and share their knowledge.  Others as well of course and they are very much appreciated.

Whats exciting for me is the learning.  My post #17 pretty much said it all

The history and the development and lack of is also what excites me.  In that thread I said I knew what I liked, I don't,  I like them all.  I may not have certain patterns but I very much appreciate seeing them and learning about them.

I also love seeing what you all like.  I love what excites you all about trads.  My fun in this hobby is my stuff but its also seeing everyones love of traditional knives.  I like seeing the pretty ones and the battered survivors.

Its been fun and gets more fun as time goes on.  While my MT enthusiasm was high very early on my trad enthusiasm is off the charts.

Threads like this keeps fueling the fire.  Thank you.

@ Aloha - thank you for the link  :hatsoff:

A great read, and your observations are spot on!   I missed your post when you were creating as I my world had been turned upside down and was learning to live alone.

Today I am learning  restraint

Purchasing patterns or styles that tickle a nerve, it is just that simple.

Thank you for being there and even your kind words keep the fire stoked!!! :woohoo:

:salute: Back at you.  Your excitement excites me.  I'm hoping you are doing well.  I know you were dealt quite a blow  :'(.  I'm saddened by your loss.  I'm happy you are back with us.  Its tricky isn't it?  Maneuvering thru our emotions is tricky.  I can only offer that if it were us that passed we'd want our loved one to live their life to the fullest happiness.  I can only imagine she'd expect same for you.

Maybe this should have been PM.  I shared my loss with MTO, it was hard to do.  I still find myself "maneuvering" 2 years later.  I know he'd want me and all of our family to enjoy this precious life we have.

Now as for that thing you said , restraint?  What is this you speak of .

I've only owned two Canoes, and one has been passed on to another MTo member. The other is a Marble's. I wouldn't doubt that it's genuine ram's horn...it has (for want of better term) a bit of a "gamey" smell. :D

It looks authentic for a bone or horn, yet surprised it would hold an Oder.
May want to make up a paste of baking soda, water and vinegar (1tsp) and apply it to the scales frame and blades then store in a small sealable container or zip lock bag with the remaining paste for a few days.  Then remove wash down with Dawn blue dish soap.  Rinse and dry then oil.
Hopefully it will eliminate the Oder it iss emitting.

I like the tortoise shell. I have been looking a RR514 tortoise shell work knife.

Though the smell is not particularly bothersome or imparting itself on other knives, I might give the removal a try. Thanks for the tip!
