Sorry, my bad. I'll get my time machine and let you know back then.

Welcome to  :MTO: qwerty85  :hatsoff:

I've taken it from the lens itself.
I've put an arrow onto the attached pic to illustrate   :salute:

I did remove some of the surrounding plastic to achieve the desired shape.

Thanks man!
I've successfully extracted the magnifying glass from the camera.
How did you cut the plastic? With some sharp-edged pliers? And filed it afterwards with the Vic file?
Is there the chance that something breaks?

Basically yes. I've used some small precise electronic side cutter with a flat bottom side, like the one in my attached pic.

Yes! Dont cut directly into the plastic. Carefully nibble away from the sides and take your time.

This stuff files away nicely. I mainly used the CT41s file.

Good luck and have fun  :salute:

Awesome! I've got a couple of broken cameras around here, and that is one use for parts inside them. Of course, a Fujifilm and a Kodak both north of ten years old probably doesn't have the same quality of lens as a Sony.

I've made it.
Luckily, if I close the bit holder with the mag glass in it and and "shake" the knife, it does not move - so I guess I don't need a scratch protection sheet?

I've made one mistake: Obviously I was too forcefully and a little part of the plastic ring broke (see the photos attached). I've glued it and it seems to be stable. There are some glue rests on the plastic as well as the glass. Do you think it's ok to try to remove that glue with spiritus, or do you see the risk that the glass blurs or something similar? Is the magnifier itself glass oder also plastic?

Nice  :like:

I'm pretty sure it's glass qwerty85  :tu:
There's a bit of a hollow space, like an overlap, that the shape of the bit drivers springs provide when you open it.
I put the little arm in there first.
For the lens cover I use a piece of shrink tubing  :salute:
