I just ordered the Pocket Bushman along with a regular fixed blade Bushman from edcdepot.com :mail:

I think you will be pleased with the Fixed Bushman.  :)

It's a lot of knife for the money IMO.

Yea I can't wait to handle this thing.  I've seen pics of a MINI Bushman that has apparently been discontinued...it looked really handy.

I agree with your final thought there about a sturdy survival knife type thing...mt Waved Delica is all I need right now for an FAST deployment EDC knife, but this Bushman folder looks like a nice outdoors/beater folder.

I just picked up one today and let me tell you this is a hoss of a blade.  There is definelity no fast deployment on this item. The thumb studs are for looks and they could have saved the time and money and left them off.

You can open it one handed I have found the easiest way is to pinch the blade between thumb and forefinger and start rotating it out. Be careful though not to get any flesh between the handle and the blade because for about the first 1/2" this thing has a killer snap.

Once you get past that just push it open with your thumb.  It is probably faster and safer to open it with two hands.

I haven't taken it apart yet but I will get around to it.  I think this is going to be a great beater knife and I don't mean hard use I mean beating it against a tree limb or something like that.

Tomorrow we are clearing brush from the church I will give it a try and let you guys know.

Rockyman I saw that video a few days ago and I'm glad to say; He must own an old model and the problem must have been fixed.

After seeing it I coulden't understand how exactly he was "breaking" it...so I got my Bushman out and tried to recreate it.  My example is rock solid, so I assume Cold Steel fixed the problem.

That said, this knife has to be the most dangerous thing I own :D  If you're not paying full attention to deploying/closing the blade, you're going to get hurt bad.  This thing locks up into a virtual fixed blade...but that same great force can turn it into a gillotine!
