I am taking a leap into the wonderful world of SAK modification and I’m starting off with a simple scale swap and possibly stone washing the tools. does anyone have a opinion and or experience in stone washing please feel free to chime in.

I found this technique on a knife forum, apparently used by many to stonewash knife clips  :dunno:

1. Strip finish with sandpaper, if necessary
2. Place clip in small food-type container with smooth round pebbles (or use old busted up ceramic tiles for a more aggressive stone washed look.), a small amount of water, and some dishwashing detergent
3. Secure top to container so that it is watertight (glue and tape help)
4. Wrap container in bath towel and secure with tape
5. Place everything in the dryer and run on air-only for about 30 minutes
6. Remove from dryer and remove towel
7. Open container
8. Rinse and dry clip
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

Now this is very doable! Have everything that is needed and nothing to buy...thanks!

Fantastic. That's so simple I don't know why I didn't come up with this.
I've been thinking about stonewashing as well and have made multiple concept drawings of DIY stonewash machines.
But this is very, very easy. Good tip!

Stone washing with soapy water and abrasive stones wasn't enough for me and got assistance to do an acid wash as well. Since I had the knife taken down, I took out the reamer and replaced with a smaller flathead screw driver. The scales were aftermarket made from some type of composite.

Thanks Matt, I was wondering if there was another alternative to eBay hehe. I heard TSA sells "captured" SAKs somewhere.
