Which Model of SAK have i got?
on: March 28, 2020, 09:43:38 PM
Hi All,
I'm trying to do some sleuthing on a SAK I got from an antique shop. It doesn't have the badge due to age and customisation of the scales (some freehand carving) but it does have Officier Suisse with what appears to a simplified fieldmaster logo (crossbow) with a plus on one side of the large knife, and the correct tang stamp with the Rostfrei name on the other.
However looking at the fieldmasters on the wiki i can't find a loadout that matches my knife.

It's 91cm long with 3 layers and only 7 tools:
The Large knife
The Small knife
The Scissors
The Bottle opener
The Can opener
The Corkscrew
The Awl

Can someone identify it?

Welcome to the forum!

Pictures would help, but it sounds like an early Climber or Traveller to me. But our resident speSmurfpillsts should show up soon  :D

Corkscrew? Phillips?  Could be a Super Tinker if phillips or Climber if corkscrew?

Hi Both,
Thanks for the welcome.

It has the same loadout as the climber but without the hook, tweezers or toothpick.

The earlier Traveller model (1.3702/54591) was likely introduced in the late 1970s and was the progenitor of the modern Climber (early 1980s?). However, unlike the current Climber, it did not have the keyring attachment, and at that time no models had the multipurpose hook. It was unavailable in North America after the mid 1980s. The no-keyring variations are sometimes available in other markets, and can appear from time-to-time, if a large order is requested by a re-seller or distributor.

Agree with Aloha.  :iagree:

The older SAKs had the solid Cellidor scales without the slots for toothpick/tweezers.

Sounds like custom scales.  Some pics would be great, if possible.

I've tried uploading some pictures but the site doesn't seem to like them. I'm struggling to get the file size below 512kb to upload them.

Try this. Easiest way to compress a pic.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saawanapps.photocompress

A couple of other options:
  • Email the pictures to yourself.  Most email apps will give you a couple of options for what size pictures you want to send, and resize them automatically.
  • You don't need fancy photo-editing software.  MS Paint works fine.

Gotta - Be done    :D

Re Image re-sizing - If you are on Windows double click on the photo to open the Photos app - Then right click on the image itself  - A re-size option comes up.
