Pet hate!

Well you'll all probably think i'm being a bit odd about this but hey ho! Please don't take offense to any of this it's just me ranting

My pet hate of the week is people who can't look after a cable to save their lives Now i'm not the neatest person or the most organised apart from in a few random areas One of them happens to be cables, i've spent a fair amount on cables in the past few years, mainly for live sound applications but a few other bits and bobs have crept in, so i like to keep my investment in as good a condition as possible.

However there are some people that seem to not care about the money they have spent on cables and treat them terribly The most common thing i see people doing is wrapping them round their elbow and hand Why, why, why! It does them no good whatsoever! It not only causes damage to them but it also makes them a pain the rear to handle, they develop random kinks and bends in them that mean you can't lay them flat and they never go where you want them to

People say its cos its quick, and yet i can coil a cable just as fast "properly" and yet it doesn't cause any damage to the cable nor does it induce random kinks into it! The method is called a few things, i know it as the over-under method but you may know it as something else. A "properly" coiled cable will be capable of being thrown while holding onto one end and it will lay on the ground with no kinks/coils/knots. It's quite ingenious really!

Your probably right, but people i've met and offered to show/teach them how, have for the large part just not been bothered Ah well, it's their money not mine

That kinda bugs me as well.  Especially when they get so twisted that the cable moves inside the insulation and gives it that twirled effect.

It's annoying isn't it! Some can be rescued with a baking session in the sun but a lot are gone for good.

Same here. First time I got to this thread I was ready to throw in my hate of "purse dogs" and cats in general...
