I think we should have a thread for bashing companies from EVERY nationality. I'm awl for defending one's planet/continent/country/region/city/neighbourhood /building but I'm not willing to do the same for some entity whose main concern is profit, not the well being of others.

Now I heard "time bomb clock" and immediately thought we were talking about this little gem. Yes it does have a mode where you have to disarm it by pulling the correct wire (which randomizes) to turn it off.

That would be infuriating in the morning.

As far as I can tell the compleate "bomb" is un available, but the board is still sold. I would imagine it is easier to ship a nondiscript circuit board vs an IED look alike.

For the windups we are actualy discussing...
Most applications involving a strong motor spring try to house them so they as arent dangerous if they pop. I used to build fall limiters which have sprtings much stronger than a normal clock. Even the small ones (3inx1/4in coil) could cut you bad if they went. I know from experience. The heavy ones we used were big as a dinnerplate, would make great material for a filet knife, and we have had people loose fingers to them.

Simple rule when handleing the housings of ANY motor spring (esepecialy if opening it)
one hand on the cover plate the other removes the bolts, if you feel it vibrate immediatly step back and put your hands up like you are bieng arrested. Give it a bit to settle down or pop then try again...carefully.

Sorry for multi-edits I keep finding typos and grammar errors and it is irritating. I give up.

Every alarm clock is a bomb. Some say "WAKE UP!", while some say "DIE!!".

Honestly, there are days where I think I'd prefer the latter. Am I the only one remembers the Folger's Challange, swap coffee for instant and see if people notice....

Necessity is the mother of invention. If you're not ready, it's "a mother". If you are, it's "mom".

That's not how you do it.

Start changing regular with decaf: at first, 90% regular - 10% decaf. Following week, 80% regular - 20% decaf. When you reach 100% decaf, keep it up for another couple of weeks. After that, change to 100% regular. Sit back and enjoy the show...
