I am getting the same way with mine to a certain degree  While I only have a handful I do like taking pictures and as you say comparison pictures.

If I can't get more multitools I'll just take more pics of the ones I have  

BTW, how do you put the numbers on the photos, is it done with Photobucket?

Given your father's role in your collecting thats very sentimental. I personally like two methods of storage in that an open display/curio is ideal for some items and safekeeping for others.
