TSR as a trademark is registered in Germany but they placed their production in China. I don't think that Germany (or any other NATO country) could order an issued equipment in China. Politically it wouldn't  be very rational )))
There are easily to buy also in internet TSR rope knives marked BUND on the scales.Well made, but so chip...
So my humble verdict is TSR is  unissued chinese production

This thread got necro-bumped a while ago, so I don't feel bad. I just got a miL-TEC yesterday, and just now compared it to my Vic. The scales look exactly the same, with but a wee bit of difference in the eagle. However, the Vic's eagle is heads-UP, toward the spines of the blades, and th mT's is upside down, LOL.

I had to get out my dial calipers, but yes, the mT's main blade is .097 compared with the Vic's .088, at the spine, just forward of the ricasso. While both taper down to the point, the mT retains more meat in the spine going foward than the Vic. The mT also has a bit more subtle belly curvature, like the B&H main pictured above. Springs and snap are also much strong on the mT. Other than that, the Vic is of course polished, and the mT satin brushed. All in all, a pleasing find.

Hi Ivan, welcome aboard!

I also have a couple of questions about GAKs. I've hear rumors of black-handled GAKs that were issued to German police; and grey-handled GAKs that were issued to the German navy. Can anyone confirm these?

Wish I had seen this thread before I bought 2 new 108 gaks on ebay. They were listed at USD15 each with USD19 for shipping. Ebay pictures didn't show the blade stamp but it was listed as a genuine German army knife. So I took my chances and offered USD20 for 2 which was quickly accepted. Thought I got a good deal there.

Fast forward 2 weeks and the items arrived in a sealed plastic bag, heavily oiled (to the extent that oil would drip off the knives). Opened the bag to inspect the knives and off came the scales, which had been loosely attached by some pink silicone. Flipped out the blade and turned out they were made by MFH. 1 blade was poorly sharpened, 1 middle rivet was loose, both corkscrews were "turned" differently, snap was weak. Total crap!!!!

Oh man Red, that stinks. I've learned a lot from this thread as well as the 108mm line is not something I've paid too much attention too.

But having reached about critical mass on alox (although I keep buying it, lol) I've kinda been looking at other lines that may be fun to try and gather. Since I'm off to a great start with two, I've room to grow. Ha.

Cyclone - I think that is about the most 108mm's I've seen in one pile like that. Great pic.

Thanks. A few days ago I bye Victorinox GAK 108. And it is in prime condition.

Almoust all GAKs was manufactured with green and red scales. Only Walther(black) and Hunter(imitation Stag Antler scales) have another scales.
You can watch it on sakwiki.

Just received a mil-tec branded one and I've got to say the quality is very "meh".

It's nice to have but the fit and Finnish is actually pretty crap.

Today's find: a GAK, or to be precise a GAK/108 mm derivative with pliers from Mil-Tec. Most defitinetly not Victorinox quality level, but an interesting tool nonetheless.

Here's one made by "Commando Industries", called Bundeswehr-Offiziers-Taschenmesser,
The handle of the pliers isn't secured by a spring or something alike, so the handle swings loosely out of the knife. Terrible construction! The blade is very dull, however the saw teeth are sharp.
It is only suitable for kids, so they can play around and hurt themselves just enough to learn knives are no toys.
