Most of these photos were taken with the following gear.

Bushhawk shoulder mount. Best walk around wildlife support you can get in my opinion.


The shoulder mount has a trigger button, and the camera is attached to it via remote cable.


To get the colours in the plumage, I use a Canon flash with a flash extender. The flash extender consists of two arms and a Fresnel lens. The whole contraption is held together and on via Velcro.


The camera body changes, but my go to wildlife lens is the versatile Bigma. This Sigma lens offers 50-500mm at f4-6.3. It is slow and heavy, but on a bright sunny day, that doesn't make much difference. With a Canon crop factor of 1.6, that lens goes from 80mm to 800mm. The EOS 1D mark II N has a crop factor of 1.3 which gives 65mm to 650mm. Tie that to the gun mount above, and you can steady action shots all day long. I have the older Bigma, and as such, there is no anti shake built into the lens. I do not find I miss it.
