Swisstool changes
« on: November 24, 2008, 10:47:58 AM »
Used to carry a Victorinox swiss army knife(http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Pages/Product.aspx?category=outdoor&product=53861&) as my EDC for years, served me very well, but recently swapped to the
Leatherman skeletool as it's small and comes with pliers that can be useful at times. However the Skeletool seems to rust, a quick
google shows that it seems to be common on leathermans. So I want to swap now to a swisstool, my wish list for a swisstool however
would be the one hand opening of the main blade and opening the blade without opening the tool. I don't suppose that's going to
happen anytime soon?

One handed opening is very unlikely to happen on a Swisstool, let alone any time soon I'm afraid.  There are one handed SAK's, but then you would lose the large pliers.

Yeah due to OH blades being illegal in many European countries I really can't see Victorinox producing them to be honest :(

But if you don't mind compromisimg on the tool load out, there maybe a Wenger 120mm that'll suit :)

Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

if OH opening tools are illegal in europe, why do they produce OH knives?  Shouldn't the same reason for producing one also be reason enuff to produce the other?

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Because there not illegal everywhere, and there issue knives to a few armies now :). Plus it was in production already when the law's in Switzerland and Germany ect changed, so there was no problem just selling it to other market's.

But designing, tooling and building a OH ST would be hugely expensive for what are probably dwindling markets.

Larger than SAK pliers, but still small though.
