The metal inlays showthread

I am fascinated by these filigree pieces of metal that are pressed into the plastic scales.

Here for the beginning just a small advertising knife with two different metal inlays with engravings.

Oh sorry, I haven't seen these threads. Few posts, there are millions of inlays. The topic doesn't seem to interest many people.  :-\

Please, I don’t mean for you to apologize!

I just wanted to show you where some of the other inlay fans were. Few as we may be...

I like the intricate designs and lettering.

Found the Mr. Peanut version I was missing.

Fantastic collection there, Fiddy!

I’ve only got a couple, one Swiss Air and one from the battle series, 1315 Morgarten which was given to me by the Swiss Foreign Minister in 1991 when I was working on the UK’s help with the Swiss 700th anniversary - a really nice present which inspired me to get a Golfer (now compact) to carry instead of the Master Craftsman/Astronaut I’d carried since 1981. I suppose the 1291 Rütli oath would have been more appropriate, but I suspect they ran out! I’d forgotten all about it until seeing this thread!

Nice, old Swissair inlay, and the battle knives are particularly beautiful, inlay as well as the etching.

This is the flag and coat of arms of the canton and the city of Geneva. Very nice, never seen before. :like:
Do you have a connection to Geneva?

:hatsoff:   Sneider, no personal connection to Geneva, just the knives.  The main blade is also marked:

Christofle
Pavillon de Geneve

I assume the knife was either sold or given away there.  The knife is pre-1973.  Christofle seems to be a bit of a “high end” place.
