Well, I saw an old post of his and was hoping there was a chance he still had a particular EDC item and may be willing to part with it.

I have just alerted him to this thread for you.  He should be in contact when he gets a chance.

:salute:
So how did having the metal file in place of the main blade work out in actual use?
I tried mocking up a similar thing with the woodsaw, but it seemed that it would hit the small blade/combo tool when closing due to lack of extra clearance and being so bendy, so I didn’t peen it and took it back apart.

I tried mocking up a similar thing with the woodsaw, but it seemed that it would hit the small blade/combo tool when closing due to lack of extra clearance and being so bendy, so I didn’t peen it and took it back apart.

So, the clearance was fine, using appropriate spacers, but the real problem came when I started using the file to clean up the picks on the ice tools and cleaning up screws.  It takes a fair bit of pressure to get enough bite on the hardened ice tools.  This caused a lot of torque on the brass pins which then ovaled out the holes in the scales.  Everything got floppy after that and it was not pretty.

I eventually went back to a Leatherman Charge ALX for ice climbing.  Excellent, tough file, couple of blades and 2 different sized bits on board (plus pliers).  Just a better setup.
