I have told myself not to go chasing every Case Soddie Jr. That would be the end result  :o

Having said that, he does have some a lot of knives that I would love to have

One of the hardest things about such a large collection is selling.  I'm not just talking finding the right person to buy but choosing to let them go.

I understand trying to sell 139 individual items would be a PITA.  There are some nice pieces in that collection for sure.

That all aside, what a wonderful collection.

So.... what's the non-Case name for this pattern?

I've been trying to find examples of it from other makers but if I don't see an example of it in this thread, I have no idea what to even search for.  :dunno:

What terms do I give Google to find me knives in this pattern that aren't a Case Sodbuster?

Sodbuster
Work knife
Boker Rangebuster
Dirt Buster Jr
Roper Tumbleweed Jr
Bear & Son Farmhand
GEC Bull Nose
GEC Bull Buster
GEC Sudbuster
Maserin Scout
Maserin Plow
Smith and Sons Mudbug
Queen Country Cousin

I may have forgotten a few.
If you prefer the smaller sodbusters, make sure you check the measurements. S9me of the knives, such as the RR denim work knife, can be quite beefy. On the other hand, Hen & Rooster's Dirt Buster Jr is pretty small.

Happy hunting!

Thanks! I mean, that's too many names but thanks!

I do like the Sodbuster Jr size though.

Thank you Spartan19,
You are responsible opening my eyes on this great pattern, along with a couple other enablers.
Yes the bone on this very nice.

I must have forgot to share a couple others I purchased as gifts to myself back in February after completing a long run of treatments.

Here is my new to me Imperial Sodbuster.  It was one of the items I kept out of the Surprise Package started by Sos24, which is still available to ship to whoever wants it next.  For those not familiar, the surprise box is a medium priority shipping box ($17.00 to ship) filled to the scuppers with goodies and all you have to do is give your address to the last person who received it and they will send it to you.  After you pick out what you want to keep, and (optionally) add some items you want to give away, you forward it to the next person who says they want it.  It's free tools and knives, but you won't know what's in the box until you get it.  That's the surprise.  Really.  Who doesn't like free?  Here's the thread in the Break Room.  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,90040.0.html

It is comfortable. All of the edges of the handle are smooth so it won't tear up my hand or my pocket.  I think at least six members got the surprise box before I got it. I'm very grateful to whoever left the Imperial Sodbuster in the box before I got it.  All of the participating members have been very generous.

I am glad you like it, Alan. I liked it a lot, so much so that I bought a replacement after putting that one in the GAW box, and I thought that someone receiving the GAW might like it as well.

I've got one of those Imperial not-Sodbuster Jrs too. It's great and I only paid $10 for it.

I've also got a 43 year old Case Sodbuster Jr - the main difference between the two (besides the steel itself) is the handles. The Case's handles are just a little bit thicker than the Imperial. It's very subtle though. I could feel a difference between the two when holding them but it took me a little while to figure out what the difference actually was!

The Imperial seems like a pretty great pocket knife for not much $$$.
