goSOS 111mm with intresting tool loadout
on: September 05, 2018, 09:09:13 AM
Saw this sadly, its no longer available. But I like that they put an awl in place of the can opener.
This is a Victorinox special run (it was also available with wooden scales).

AFAIK, it wasn't produced with wooden scales, only with neylon ones

According to their website it was. Though it appears that Outdoorwerk has added the olive wood scales, not Victorinox.

The lip of the awl pushed the liner away from the backspring, when you opened the awl.
There was a thread about it around here somewhere...

It's a nice knife. I bought one when they became available for the first time (later they raised the price significantly). I use it for some more rougher tasks in- and outside of the house since it's sturdy and has a useful toolset.

Ugh... me not liking that... you could grind of a bit of the awl without loosing any function, but I strongly dislike if you have to finish a tool after you bought it.

They do that... they raised the price for the saw-blade-holder from 120 to 165, quite the increase.

Wait- two awls?

What madness is this?

I wouldn't mind one despite that. :P It would be really good with the chisel in the place of the backspring awl. Particularly if they fixed the blasted liner lock!

Just looked at the website - Few interesting items on the tool descriptions ....

Peg puller:
•        to open tightened nodes
•        can be used as a pulling tool and the rest of the knife can be used as a handle
Mini-screwdriver:
•       for spectacle frame screws
•       for other very small gadgets to screw around
Needle:
•        remove splinters
•        universal mini awl
Screwdriver:
•       arrested
•       for coarse slotted screws
•       multi-purpose tool
•       as a caulking tool

What is the peg puller ? - The CS  ???
So it has a mini SD - Unusual for 111mm right   ???
And it has a needle ? Is that the pn hole and pin as per a SwissChamp   ???
And what is caulking ???

All v interesting !!

EDIT PS:  I guess it is an Outrider variant ???

Interesting tool, I thought this was a mod.
And finally somebody thought of removing the can opener which probably is the most useless tool of them all. As we all know, during a zombie apocalypse one just grinds a can on the pavement in order to open it up - without any tools, and So, as long as you in the city no can opener is needed.
