I found these at the local pawn shop and bought them wondering exactly what I have here. They were not expensive, but I bought them out of curiosity. If anyone here could give me some ideas on nationality or any information on these, I would be grateful. I have a strong feeling these are all Asian in origin. I have just never come across something like these.

1. Short sword with wooden hilt and scabbard.

The blade has this recuring pattern of slashes and stars.

it is an odd piece. Not sure if this is ethnical in origin, a wall hanger for decoration only, or what.

2. This longer sword is in very good shape. I am thinking Chinese but that is just a guess. There is a lot of writing on this one, and I have no clue what they say. My images might even be upside down etc...

3. The design/pattern of this one is something new to me. The sheath and knife appears to be leather over wood from what I can see.

Any information on these 3 would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking the middle one is Chinese in origin.

A little Leatherman information.

Hi. I made an account on this website just to respond to this. I have a matching shortsword of the star-engraved blade. From my research it is likely a Jian (double edged sword) from the Qing dynasty at the earliest (mostly due to the tassel hole on the scabbard), more specifically a seven-star Jian. There seems to be some cultural significance in regards to Taoism for that.
I can't remember for the life of me where I got the thing. Either my dad bought it off of Ebay or it was my grandfather's and I found it when going through his things (he was in the USAF so he had a lot of stuff the traveling he had to do).
I'm not sure how to link pictures on here (or if you can even do that in replies), otherwise I'd have a pic of the sword

The pictures on the second sword scabbard are interesting. The bird is a phoenix, the other image with a face but no body represents an angry wind such as a storm.

P.S.  Google image search was able to translate this from sword #2.  Might be able to do the same with some of the other writing on it, but this was the only one I tried…
