Day 16, trimming some strings from the inside of my backpack with an older Spartan (fluted CS). Full disclosure, this is my FIRST time ever carrying the classic Spartan! It's also the first I've ever owned. Something about it just feels right :)

Day 16

Return of the DofE. The scissors came in handy opening some packages, and it seems that two days after gustophersmob I'm following suit with having a new Alox Minichamp but not being able to carry and use it because of the challenge. Anyway, it's nice owning one at last nonetheless.

Nice minichamp!

Just don't follow too closely after me, otherwise it will be mod fodder tomorrow! ;)

Tried modding an old explorer into a Passenger today... not only did I put my opener layer in backwards, so now the nail nicks are facing the wrong way... but I pushed my finger tip down onto the sharp edge of a pin and turned it into a bloody mess
Modding is fun they said...
Once I get some replacement pin stock I'll tear it apart again and make it right. I'm not ready to foray into Alox modding quite yet

Day 18, making a "finger cot" type bandage from a cotton glove with my excelsior. Not my favorite SAK, but a fine pocket knife no less. It's what I grabbed blindly out of the box-o-users today, so I'm stuck with it til tomorrow

Nice pics everyone!

Day 20:

Removed the bail from the old pioneer to try it that way again. I keep going back and forth on whether I like it with the bail. I like that the knife is "complete," but with just the bail, it's more of a pain to make sure I don't close the blade on it. When I add a lanyard, it looks cool and makes it easier to keep the bail out of the way, but it's more bulky in pocket. Also has a tendency to snag other things and pull them out along with it.

Without, it looks nice and clean, and no snagging or blade gouging issues, but it's got those dang holes in the pins just begging for a bail.

Yes, I know, I over think and over complicate small things ;)

Day 21:
When one wishes to swap scales on a SAK, what's the best tool for removing them? Another SAK can opener. What's the problem with that when you're doing the minimalist challenge? You don't have another one  had to get creative and find a slim screwdriver. Anyways, for day 21 my Spartan got new white plus scales. I cut up the rags to pad the vise AFTER removing the old scales.... Derp   :ahhh I like a slim knife but that's a bit too slim.  All better now and SHINY

Nice scales! I put white scales on one of my Explorers, but it just looks so pristine and pure I never dare to carry it. :) It became a "box queen".
