STOP THE PEBBLE MINE!
on: November 27, 2008, 09:02:29 PM
If it's not too late, donate to www.alaskacleanwater.org to help stop the production of the pebble open pit mine, which would be the largest mine in alaska and would sit right on top of Bristol Bay, the largest salmon spawning ground in the world. Almost 1/2 of the pacific salmon population would be lost by this monstrosity. For more information on the company that is planning to produce this mine, read on at http://www.adn.com/opinion/story/600727.html

oh, and buy lots of Abel special edition No Pebble Mine reels. ($750 donation and you get one of the best fly reels ever made for free!)

Give it time, make some friends first. Know the people in the forum and let them know you.
And don't get mad, let the people realize that they really need to care instead of forcing the issue. :D :salute: :D

Dumb question:

Since I'm from NJ, not a native alaskan, would my involvement be "invalid"?

Part of the point of saving bristol bay was saving one of the most highly sought-after fly fishing grounds. Aanyways, if every fisherman fly-fished, there would be fewer fishermen around.
