Hi everyone,

there can be only one... Or not?

This will be a comparison of the 10-layer Workchamp XL (111 mm, linerlock edition) and the 11-layer Swisschamp XLT (91 mm).

1. The Blades:

The Workchamp has three blades: A big beefy blade with linerlock, then a gutting blade and a belt cutter. The last two of them are serrated.

The XLT has the standard 91 mm blade, the pen blade and also the pruner and the electrician's blade.

Score: Draw. Because both have their advantages (serrated and bigger on the 111 mm and more specific blades on the XLT)  1:1

2. Openers:

The 111 mm liner lock bottle opener is great. Really sturdy and... locking. Has also a 90 degree stop. In the same layer there's the  standard can opener. But there's also the combo tool in another layer which also has a 90 degree stop. Looks hilarious small compared to the main bottle opener.

On the XLT are the two standard openers from the 91 mm range. The bottle opener also has a 90 degree stop.

Score: 1 Point for the Workchamp. Bigger, badder and more. 2:1

3. Screwdrivers:

There are three slotted and two dedicated philips screwdrivers on the Workchamp. Plus the Mini Screwdriver. That should be enough for screwing around.

The XLT has one dedicated philips, three slotted screwdrivers (two on the openers) and a smaller one as backside tool and the mini screwdriver. But... it also has the cybertool bit driver with interchangeable bits. They are more durable than the normal screwdrivers.

Score: 1 Point for the XLT. My choice for screwing around. 2:2

4. Saws:

Both knives have a wood saw and the metal saw with file. The 111mm versions are longer. They are also different from the 91 mm versions because they have a curved backside.

Score: 1 Point for the Workchamp. 3:2

5. General Tools:

There are pliers and scissors on each knife. Almost no difference in size between 91 mm and 111 mm. Scissors on the Workchamp have their nail nick on the other side (like the Pioneer X),

Score: Draw. 4:3

6. Other tools:

On the workchamp there are some tools which are rarely seen elsewhere: The marlin spike with shackle opener and the hoof cleaner. Really nice. There are three back side tools: One Cork Screw and duawl awls. It's no factory error - Victorinox included an updated description which speaks of two awls. The Workchamp has tweezers and toothpick for scale tools.

The XLT has a magnifying glass, a spatula and the fish scaler, together with cork screw, chisel and hook on the back side. It has also tweezers and toothpick in its scales but also a pin and an pen.

Score: Draw. Both have some special powers. 5:4

7. Ergonomics:

Both knives are very wide and are heavy. The Workchamp is about 320 gr, the XLT about 249.

Score: Win for the XLT. It's lighter and a little bit more pocketable 5:5

So... Both win.  :like: :like:

PS: Sorry for my bad english.

So the XLT is better for a light EDC than the Workchamp?  :D
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

It's slightly better if you prefer minimal carry (which means you take only one SAK with you).

Maybe more research is needed for sciences sake.

What a fun comparison.  I've never handled either.  Would you be so kind and post pics of those tools please?

I enjoyed your comparison,

Can opener, bottle opener - and combo tool on the XLT?? TWO awls on the WC XL?? I guess you can't have too many options or backups...

Two awls on the WC XL, but also two bottle openers.

Here are two pics from this epic battle. Maybe there's more to come.

The €2 coin is looking a little oval, did you use a huge lens for this pic?  ;)
Nice SAKs! They truly look enormous.  :ahhh :hatsoff:

The picture got shot at an angle.

Now compare the files/metal saws of those weapons of bag destruction.

The WC XL's one is curved at the start on the backside. It's not only longer but also much thicker than its 91 mm counterpart.
