Keep telling yourself that .  Seriously tho, what would you call it then?

You have a SAK thats been doing an admirable job.  You are given or find or whatever the means by which you obtain a new to you SAK.  You decided to try it out and see if this new SAK is more to your liking than the previous one.  After a week you decide it ( is or isn't ).  What do you do with the SAK that isn't?  Keep it?  Why?

Same could be said for MTs, knives, lights, or whatever other edc tools.  I totally get wanting to try new things.  I certainly like experimenting with new stuff.  Fundamentally tho if you aren't moving on the stuff that didn't make the cut then, what gives?  Collecting? Hoarding?

How many such items haven't you seen in ages?

Well... I'd need to see them to tell you how many. But then I'd awlready seen them, so they wouldn't count...

To answer the first question, I think it's much simpler than that...

Laziness. To lazy to get rid of stuff...

What Santos said.

I'm too lazy to sell them on. So I bought a cabinet to put them in

I like to carry and use the tools and knives I have and I do except for a couple. I've been selling off a few things lately because i'm starting to feel like I've got too many not being used.

No i am also no collector
Well, i did well with one sak and 2 leathermans for a few years, but the weather made me want a lighter carry... so the skeletool was acquired.
But also wanted backup for the missing tools, so a rebar was added for in the car or workbag.
Crunch came in, served a special need.
Liked the two tone i saw on the forum and al most got me a bo rebar to roll my own, as i realized i need a beefy tool too, thus that need was forfilled by a buying special edition black and silver surge...
And for winter with gloves i am convinced my latest addition, the lm oht will serve me well too

Still no collector .... i think ....

I am a collector, I just can’t decide what it is I am collecting.  So I collect everything just in case I finally decide that something in that group is what I am finally going to collect.  Or something like that......

The only thing I’m a collector of is info...

As soon as a tool is too redundant, or collects too much dust, it is normally sold. But I also like to try some of everything :tu:

As I type this, I'm beginning to catalog my collection, starting with recent eBay buys.   I've normally been more of a user than a collector, but I've noticed I've started to start seriously collecting some things--like knives and MTs advertising the coal mining industry and old fishing tools. I recently found some old Economy logo advertising Bantams, and since the price was good (NIB, and $7 each), I bought two since I had an $5 voucher due to an item that was guaranteed to show up Monday, but ended up getting delayed to Wednesday because of a USPS slip-up.  I'll carry one of them, and put the other one into the toolbox with boxed items, which is beginning to have a decent amount of stuff in there.

I am not a COLLECTOR, I am a member of Multitool.org :multi:

I gather info, I admire other's pictures, read their experiences, learn about deals, observe bargains in stores and do not leave without.   I search the 'net for my likes, study, search, sleep on decisions, search and then occasionally BUY, buy, and BUY.

BUT, I do use  my tools, my guns, my bikes, all that I collect.  Now starting to learn to share with others less able to HAVE these items called MTs to experience what they observe me do.

Isn't that what we awl do!!!!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I acquire things not because I need them but because I am interested in them.
I don't want to be a collector because I would feel the need to have everything to complete the collection, which is unattainable for me. It would drive me nuts.

Even worse is when you think you have finally collected all the different variants (after many years of searching and much spending of money) then (thanks to a helpful MTo member) you discover 2 more variants that never seem to come up for sale - that really burns     :twak:
