Just got in the new G-Shock. That was fairly quick.

The packaging is a little smaller than on some of the other G-Shock watches I have.

Inside the cardboard box is a metal tin and some documentation.

The metal tin comes in a familiar G-Shock shape...just a bit smaller overall.

Opening the tin, you are greeted with the watch that is well protected. I have always found it entertaining to think that a tough watch designed to take a beating comes in one of the industries best protection packaging.

Meet the G-Shock GA-2000-1A9. The 1A9 is the yellow and black version.

The watch is part of the new G-Shock carbon core series. This watch is I think their entry level model in the series. The carbon core not only makes the watch super light, but also allows easier access to the function buttons. The back of the watch is covered with a plastic shield over the back metal plate (or so I am told). The bracelet is super easy to remove and replace.

Like a lot of G-Shock watches, the lighting is via an LED that shines across the face. A big positive...the two LCD subscreens are back illuminated. A big improvement over my 100 and 700 series watches. The LED and back-lighting is a nice blue.

This is my first G-Shock model that has a rotating disk to denote the settings. Watching it spin around after each press of the mode button is a bit entertaining. among the usual watch settings, this model also features world time. So far, I am a big fan of this watch. :tu:

I wasn't planning on buying a new watch honest. I was at WalMart earlier today and noted a new display case full of those watches with magnetic mesh bracelets. I was curious. I took one home with me. The manufacture is Accutime Watch Corp.

This type of bracelet is super comfortable. Because my wrist is so large however, I have to decouple the bracelet from one end of the watch, and then re-tread the bracelet onto the watch as it sits on my wrist. With all of that, once it is locked on, this is probably one of my more comfortable bracelets on any watch I own. I am sold on the concept.

Infinite adjustments...so that you can get that perfect fit. Leagues ahead of straps with holes in them. Mind you, I think I should keep the strong magnet away from my automatics.

I had to bring my motorcycle clock in for a battery change yesterday. This fits onto my front pivot point Nut via a hex screw. That way, it keeps my handlebars clear, and whenever I need to see the time on my bike I just have to look down.

Nice!  Any reasons for that specific model?

It just looked like a nice watch. It has moon and tidal info...which I do find nice on my Casio pathfinder.

Says this Thursday. Time will tell.

Got myself something a bit different. From what I gather, NEFF watches are more for the skater crowd...which is good because I found this one in such a shop. This is a NEFF Odyssey.

Newest addition. A Casio G-Shock G-7900-2DR. I found out this watch is called the Rescue because it is popular with the Search and Rescue folks. Featuring moon and tidal information along with a low temperature LCD...this is one super comfortable watch as it has 2 formed pieces that make wearing the watch very comfortable. Something I was not aware when I bought the watch. The blue appeared darker online...but when I got it...it is more a battleship grey to my eye. A much better colour than what I thought I was getting.

I think this might be my favorite of the G shock watches I currently own.

Got a trio of very cheap smart watches that I bought on a day trip, all bought from a store chain called HART. I just finished charging them up, and haven't set the time and date yet.

Of the 3, I previously had a version of this one...a DZ09 that I gave to my girlfriends son. I didn't like that one because the speaker was very weak. This one appears to have fixed that issue. If so, then this won't be that bad of a smart watch. This one says Proscan on the boot screen.

I also got this one.

And this fitness tracker band that includes a heart rate monitor...amazing for something in the 20 to 30 dollar range.

Annoying in that the clasp are these two pins you have to push through like holes on the bracelet.

I had to read the instructions in order to charge the watch. You have to pull one of the bands off the watch to expose the USB charging dongle.

Here they all are lined up.

I am going to read the instructions and see how the apps work on my cell phone. Should be interesting.

The newest addition...a Swiss Army watch model 5017X found at Atmosphere in the Sault. I was quite surprised that they had this watch. They have slowly eliminated most of their watches...mostly Garmin and Suunto in the past year. I was in the store a month ago and this watch was not there. Today, they had this lonely watch sitting next to a Suunto and a Garmin watch. The price was very attractive. It does need a watch battery...so I am thinking this was new old stock. The watch still had the back and front protective vinyl covers on it.

The case is very nice.

The hands on this one are quite different.
