Good thread.
I recently picked up a Powerbuilt 3/8" x 8" slotted screwdriver off the side of the road.
In fact quite a few of my every day users were found, I should take some pics.

Home Depot has a lifetime warranty on their hand tools.  No receipt, no questions asked.  I decided to test their policy.  I returned the adjustable pipe pliers in the top photo and they gave me a new pair.  Easy, peasy.

I used to go into a huge junkyard, and I swear every time I went in I came out with an extra tool, but haven’t since I don’t drive and we moved, yet, a few years back we used to live in a big apartment complex, and I walked into the basement and there was a pair of 10” channel locks, sitting next to one of the furnaces, I let them sit there for the rest of the day and went down the next day and was like, oh well they had the chance to come back  ,,
Hey they were beat up and no marks that anyone could identify, they looked just like my 8”pair, so if I got asked I could just simply say they were part of my collection!

Another time long long ago on the way home the guy in front of me was a welder, you could see the tanks and equipment on the back of his truck and his helmet blew off, I stopped in traffic to pick it up, then tried to catch up to him, honked and flashed my lights but he didn’t slow down and then took a turn that wasn’t my way home so it staid in my truck, and it wasn’t a cheesy one, it was one of those automatic ones, still in good shape even though it blew about 15’ into the air and landed just off the road! Never got to use it, I used to do some welding and fig maybe it might come in handy but just never did..

20 years ago, I was stopped at an intersection.  A panel truck took a left tun in front of me.  A panel fell off and 660 Stihl chainsaw fell onto the road.  I stopped a picked it up and gave chase.  Never saw him.  Ran an ad in the paper with no response. I eventually trashed the panel and put the chainsaw on the shelf.

Pretty sure the "brush tool" is a "hoof tool"  for horses that combines a brush for cleaning hooves and hoof pick. Proto tin snips are pretty neat--around the house is old Wiss.

Not a tool, but likely more important.

A few weeks ago, on my way home in late afternoon traffic, I was ready to make a right at a very busy intersection, the light turned green, and I then saw it, a Teddy Bear laying in the road, I put truck in park, turned on 4-ways, jumped out and rescued the bear and a few horns were honked, and I laid the bear on the base of a street lamp, and returned to the truck, looking at the cars behind me, figuring I was to receive middle finger salutes I received thumbs ups from a few drivers.

I made my turn on red, and continued home.

But, the next day running an errand for part time job, went into that intersection going other direction, caught a red, glanced at the base of the light pole, the bear was gone.  Replaced with a 3 foot square piece of card board with a “THANK YOU” and a heart painted on it.

A grateful parent I am sure!

Made my day.

Never posted it here, but found a Würth worklight a few years ago at the side of the road.

The charging station wasn't there obviously, so I built one myself using another, old charging station.

I drilled some holes on the charging port locations, screwed in 2 screws and suspended the charging pins (screws) using a pen spring.

I bought a cheap USB charging cable, cut it open and soldered the poles to the screws.

It's been going strong ever since!

II let them sit there for the rest of the day and went down the next day and was like, oh well they had the chance to come back  ,,

I've always given the owner a reasonable amount of time to come back for their tool.  After that, it's mine.

Weird...

I found it in the middle of town near where I work.  No horse nearby, although this is Texas.  :dunno:

YOu guys should come to Vermont. All ever find on the side of the road, here in the Capitol village, is empty dime bags, condoms, cigarette butts and (fewer than in years past) syringes. Occasionally something that I suspect is what is left of a tennis ball after being chewed up and passed through a very large dog. Or what were car parts.
