I like the idea, but it seems to me that leverage could become an issue on tougher materials.

Large cutting surface indeed.
But as mentioned, leverage might become an issue...

Like topiary shears, I guess - just squeeze the blades together

Seems like a good idea.

While leverage may not be that high in a way it's a feature at least from Swiza's perspective, similarly to Victorinox and Wenger SAK Scissors and pliers being operated with the thumb.

The lack of leverage and probable discomfort of a hard squeeze prevents the user from making the scissors bite more than they can chew and subsequently be damaged, which would either mean disappointed customers for Swiza, or significant repair costs if they decided to uphold a warranty.

Personally I suspect that while they're large they probably can't handle much more pressure than SAK scissors being linked with a similar pin or rivet, though they do seem they could be faster for long cuts at the cost of precision.

Similar system to Kershaw two can. http://www.multitool.org/knives/kershaw-twocan

If they copied Victorinox or Wenger then people would complain. It is good to see them do something different.

I would agree that they would likely be better at longer cuts.  I struggle to imagine situations where I need less-precise, longer cuts from a scissor in a knife/multi-tool.

I think they have come up with a unique, usable tool but I doubt it would do as good a job at the roles I use Victorinox scissors for.

True, for less precise tasks you can often just use the blade.

If the scissors are anything like their Phillips--PASS!. I mean, I couldn't get it to slot well in either a PH1 or a PH2, something a Vic handles without issue.  And that design is a bit odd to say the least. It'll probably open your finger easily trying to open the tool itself, much like the awl did on my D04.

Oh, and the awl on a Swiza works almost as well as a pen blade. I mean, even with all it's shortcomings I still kinda like my Swiza, especially as it is left-hand dexterity, which I am.

So like thread nippers. I hope they'll be strong enough to handle thicker material, like straps or plastic. Still, that's so nice to see. Instead of just putting just a sak scissors design in there, they went with something different. I cannot wait to see it tested.  :like:
