I had a huge laugh at the Google Home Mini yesterday.  I was supposed to pick up Megan, on my way by the house, and she wasn't responding to text messages or answering her phone.  I assumed she was listening to music on the Home Mini, so I used the Broadcast feature to break into the music and ask her if she was ok.

Scared the crap out of her as it records my voice on the phone and plays the recording on its speaker.

Now I have to resist the urge to get it to say something creepy in the middle of the night!

Oh it’s good, just like the little story I posted a little bit ago about the Mrs and the neighbors kids, that was fun!

My house is completely filled with Apple stuff, including the HomePods. But on the second floor there's no one to 'talk' to for turning on the lights.
I can get a Home Mini for €39,-. Go for it?
Domotics are Hue and Ikea Trådfri lights.

Bought it…

My phone is mostly not in my pocket when I'm at home, it just lays on the coffee table.

If you're  all apple why didn't you buy one of their pods? Or don't they do a small cheap version?

I do own two HomePods. They're actually not available in The Netherlands, but I live near to Germany. But way too expensive for upstairs.
But a HomePod costs €349,- and this Mini €39,-.

For now I like it. Too bad there's no Apple Music on it, but everything else works great. Especially nice because I can speak Dutch. With the HomePods I stil l have to speak English.
Thinking of getting one for the living room also.

Ouch, that's expensive, especially when you can't speak your native language to them to

Yeah, Apple is not that fast with updates in The Netherlands. Same for Apple Pay…

Last Christmas I bought 2 of the Google Home Minies, one for myself and the other for my girlfriend. Gave both of them to someone when hers started having conversations with someone not there. Seriously creeped both of us out as I did witness hers going off twice. Not as bad as the laughter that the Amazon version suffered from a while back. Still not exactly cool. I also didn't like that it records all of your conversations to the cloud. Before I gave them away, we turned off the mic on our units...but that didn't exactly stop her's from having one sided conversations with someone.

Hope you enjoy yours and not have the somewhat paranormal stuff happening.  :hatsoff:

You can use the Alexa app on your phone to remotely make an Echo say something.
I did it on my parents.  :D

A friend of mine has a 3D printer. He made me a retro alarm clock stand for the Mini.

How cool is this?
