I’m curious do all of the knives of this size come with the plastic switch on the scales for unlocking, or are there some without it?

That's the slide-lock. Victorinox has moved away from that and now 111mm models have a liner lock.

Don't let the look fool you, I never ever had any problem with those locks. That switch also is easy to use with gloves because of its pointy texture.

That being said, I admit I never used a liner-lock Vic.

You should always check with the seller because all model names got messed up recently so you can never be sure. Especially if they have some old stock left.

My first 111mm was a Rucksack with the button lock and it was fantastic - the button is solid.

Don't all 111mm liner locks have the locking cap lifter/flat SD/pry tool? Said tool is also beefier than in the slide locks. Two advantages of the liner lock knives over the slide lock ones.

The liner lock annoys some users by being "left handed". I like it despite being right handed - it works just fine for me. I merely press it the other way with my thumb. Plus it's good to see lefties being catered for in a world dominated by right handers.

Yeah, that was poorly written! Thanks. I did mean "the cap lifter locks on all liner locks with a cap lifter". Or even "the cap lifter locks on all 111mms with a flat screwdriver".

Yeah, that was poorly written! Thanks. I did mean "the cap lifter locks on all liner locks with a cap lifter". Or even "the cap lifter locks on all 111mms with a flat screwdriver".

Nothing wrong with the slide lock quality wise.
My only complaint is the ribbing on the lock itself. After some time and usage the slide will get smoother and harder to unlock with slippy hands.

Vx claims that the liner lock is more sturdier, stronger than the slide lock. If you are planning to do some demolishing works with your blade, I would surely opt for the liner lock.

I like the slide lock a little bit more, because it's easier to use and your finger is never in the way of the blade when it closes....
However, the slide lock is more difficult to clean.
