Does this one seem like an inlay or hot stamp?  :dunno:

Since everything is connected I assume it’s an inlay.

Inlay for certain. I have the red (pretty sure it’s posted in your Americana thread)

I’d grab it.  :tu:

It’s surprising which companies have used the same inlay on multiple colors. Swatch and LL Bean seem to have several, with LL Bean using both Vic and Wenger.

I almost accidentally bought one a while back. I’ve seen a couple more since. I do think they seem more rare than the ‘84 anniversary ones. There are versions of the graphic that follow much later, but seem to ‘revert’ back to the older font. And have ‘SWISS’ and ‘ARMY’ separate where the ‘EST’ and years are.

It is somewhat strange that Vx inlays are rarely used.
Did you see this design inlay? I saw many times this picture printed on both front and back scales but never seen it as metal inlay.

I wonder if its possible to buy scales with inlay at a reasonable cost.

Only printed, just like that. c.’90s IIRC, from the ones I’ve seen. I should have clarified better in my other post.

Thank you Rizio and kamakiri.  :hatsoff:
I remember seeing Karl's photos of SAKs laying on sandstone rock and I would cringe just a little thinking it would be scratching the scales.
But, I now see that the finish on the sandstone is smooth and if laid carefully, the SAK doesn't show any marring at all.

My favorite “standard” inlay:

And the only knife I’ve ever purchased solely because of the custom inlay. It was just too good to pass up:

Re: The Really Useful Group

It would be funny if it actually had the "tools" that are in their logo.
My Mods: 58mm Workshop, 91mm Picnicker, CyberCompact
Some Fav's: long nail file models, vintage unusual stainless
Quirk: I like the metal file more than the wood saw
