That two-tone looks great! What a shame they don't care about their MT line.  :-[
My Bear Jaws and mini Jaws are nice.  :like:

Unfortunately removing the unlocking bars makes it lock like an OG SuperTool. But, with even more crude action required to work the tool. The non-locking versions are much better.
I have repaired and modified two of my locking Bears to work perfectly, but it takes a boat load of grinding, filing, and finger-crossing.  :ahhh
Does the non-locking version also lock like an OG SuperTool?
I may need a photo comparison of locking Vs non-locking mechanisms...  :pok:

Thank you, RP!
So true about some of their tools being nice. The OG 156 is a beast with some serious pliers. The Mini Jaws. :dd:

Will try and remember to take some photos at some point.  :)

Non-locking are like the PST.
Thanks for the answer, RP!

Thank you, Chako!

Why Bear didn't further pursue the Pocket Tool line, is odd. Such a good configuration.  :dunno:

While waiting around and hoping that GLBM will become active here again, I thought I would join the Bear Jaws club:

155EL

Super Bear Jaws 156L (dismantled to be cleaned)

I also have a Toolzall Pro (155), and I think I have another 155 sold as a Craftsman. I'll try to take pictures of them also.

First Bear post but I came across an interesting error on an early 155L to share.  Lately I have been picking up NOS Bears from dealers (mostly 1990s vintage 155, 156, 153, and 157SM with welded bolsters and no lock) and this 155L that arrived today is the newest of the bunch made during the Swiss occupation.  Interesting that one of the handles was stamped and folded in the wrong direction so the inch and metric scales are mixed on the same side of the tool.  Probably a factory reject, but interesting.

  • Apparently it is possible to have too many tools;)

Interesting factory error  :tu:

Bear & Son were well known for selling off seconds without identifying stamping etc, which may go some way towards explaining their current poor reputation.  Someone buying an MT with defects from the factory thinking they were buying a "good" brand new MT has a right to be disappointed.

Cool black mini Bear Jaws.  :tu: Not very common    :hatsoff:   They also made them with SS, Blue, Green & Red handles

From my Bear drawer I have an early plier stamped bear without metric rulings, empty on the back. just inches and bear jaws stamp on the front.
Early batch? test batch? Guess I'll have to email Ken Griffey about it.

Also bonus LL Bean stamped mini bear with TiNi coating.
still looking for the 155 LL bean bear jaws with TiNi, it's out there somewhere.....

Nice  :tu:

Those TiNi LL Bean Bear MTs are pretty elusive, I have a Mini & a Super Bear Jaws, but not the regular size Bear Jaws version.
