Small Axe for carving?
on: February 27, 2019, 08:02:56 AM
Hi folks,

Last year I was at a Bowmaking course and one of the folks there had an awesome Axe with him ( was a primitive course, a fixed knife and Axe were required).

The handle was about 30cm long, it was quite light but awesome for light carving/chopping duties.

Anyone knows where to get a similar one with such a large head for the weight?

Check out the Roselli axes. Same head is available on two different handle lengths. I used to have the longer handled version. Very good axe!

Ever since Forged in Fire aired, everyone and their dog is forging knives and axes. Alot of new makers sell their knives and axes on Instagram and Etsy. Just search for axes or hatchets and you should find something comparable.

Japanese carpentry axes are very similar to that and have become very popular in the last couple of years. Google Japanese Bearded Axe, there's plenty about... Then post a pic when you inevitably get one.  :D
