I was a big time Marillion fan once, while they had Fish as a singer. I had all their records, and knew them by heart.
Fish visits my hometown quite often, and will sing a song or two in our local Irish pub "Poitin".

Can't believe I've not seen this thread before! Recently been listening to King Crimson - Red a fair bit. Not listened to much KC but I really dig this album based on a friend's recommendation.

How much does the term "prog" cover I wonder? What about stuff like Beefheart etc? I've always loved Troutmaskreplica from the first time I heard it. How about those "krautrock" bands? I've always thought of Can's Tago Mago as an astounding prog album.

Also - before I jump in - what are the rules on promotion of your own music on here....?

Promote away M'Lord. As long as it's prog  :pok:

The prog Police are watching. Break the rules and you could be in for a triple albums worth of remonstration based on an alternate history of Earth where the Roman Empire never fell and had discovered space travel. So watch it!

Yeah, that sounds ok to be honest!

So, here goes nothing - my band's most recent LP - Ark of Octofelis by Spider Kitten. I include it here as I do believe it has heavy elements of prog rock (i.e prolonged studio experimentation, unusual instrumentation, it was designed for listening and not so much for live performances, "high" concept of space/cults/treachery etc) as well as being a (hopefully) decent heavy record. Enjoy... I think!

Rob, this is excellent! Halfway through 'Feline Will' and it's superb. Very mellow, inventive and well groovy.

There's Lovely!

Mine started with this:

:)

Nice. 8)   You can't go wrong with a bit of Pink Floyd IMO.  Division Bell was "my" Floyd album (I was around 18 when it came out) and while it might not be Dark side of the Moon I still love it.  Still not sure why they re-named the live version of Division Bell as Pulse though.

This is on the heavier side of prog but is a fantastically inventive album by the mighty Dan Swanö - Edge of Sanity

I love Swano.

He's one of my favourite musicians, and I find it hard not to like pretty much anything he does.

I feel like his Nightingale project is probably more proggy than EoS as much as I love them too...
