This pic of my GA100 Dark Knight got a lot of hits on Facebook and Instagram, so let's give it a shot here and see what happens!

This is one of two G Shocks I own- Megan got it for my birthday a few years ago, purchased it from a member here, right under my nose!

I've had this one for about....11 or 12 years.

It used to be that I'd go through 1-2 watches a year.....then I got my G-shock.

Not a G-Shock, but this Casio Tough Solar has been a good performer. Somewhat lighter on robustness and cost, but worth an honourable mention in this thread. When I got this, I did have the cash to get a G-Shock, but chose not to (for the reasons explained below), and I don't regret getting this instead. It's low profile, low key, low cost, and low maintenance.

My only G-Shock. Before trading for this watch here on MTO, I considered the G-Shock watches to be big clunking ugly things, and I never really saw the appeal (remember, for 20 years, wrist watches were a major safety hazard for me). When I bought the Tough Solar above, I bought that specifically because I wanted an outdoor watch than didn't feel like I'd got a domestic appliance strapped to my arm. However, when this watch came available for trade, I figured I'd give one a try.

I'm glad I did.

Firstly, I love the look. It's the kind of look I'd want in a regular wrist watch, but with all the added durability and functions. To me, it's a G-Shock you could wear with a shirt and tie. Not too cluttered or fussy, which is better for my impared vision, yet able to take the knocks and abuse of my balance disorder. I'm certainly less concerned about hurting this watch than any of my others on bad health days.

The fact that keeping these two watches running, consists of just leaving it on the windowsill for a day or two while I wear something else, is brilliant for me as well :D

Weekend is G-Shock time!
I like to smaller, classic models. Today it's a G-100-9CM with yellow markings and positive digital display. It's a rather small G and the digital display is hard to read, especially when partially covered by the hands.

G-Shocks are a bit like SAKs; affordable, very functional, no-nonsense EDC tools you can trust, and enough options for you to find one (or more) that works for you.  :tu:

Have a few but my favorite has to be the GPW-1000. Discontinued now, but a classic design and just the basic functionality I need...Analogue hands, solar, GPS (I live too far away from atomic time signal), super-bright LED and tough as nails.

Have the Japanese made GW-5000 with screw back. Closest out of the current range to the 1983 original.

Unfortunately too many G-Shocks to synchronize.  :facepalm:
