The SideClip Owners Club
on: April 15, 2019, 10:23:11 PM
I just received my first SideClip today and figured it's about time we have a SideClip owners club. There is another older club for people who were part of a group buy but this club is for all SideClip owners  :tu:

So let's see them

I'm pretty excited that I was able to get one of the polished models and in pretty good shape as well.

Handle date codes of 0404, 0404, 0204, 0504

Probably the best plier based pocket tool companion to a Swiss knife in my opinion. I have two, one with a bead blast finish, and one that is in pieces, having its bead blast finish improved. No pics at the moment, but I'll get some up when I can  :salute:

That's what I thought but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks

I've got a set of pentalobe security bits coming so I can tighten this one up a bit. The handles are pretty loose.

I'm in  :D.

I own two of them (exactly identical, both NIB and same date codes 0298)

One of the nicest Leatherman tools ever made in my humble opinion.

Here's my two. I've put the tool adaptor in for Steve to see.  :tu:

The polishing is very slow progress, as I've mentioned in another thread. I do a little each week, just to edge it a bit nearer. It's getting better, slowly but surely.  :) The whole one has dates ranging from 0698 to 1098, and the one in bits is 0498 to 0598.

The second pic is why this tool (for me) is such a fantastic companion tool to a Swiss knife. A lightweight pocket clipped pliers tool, with those three drivers.

I once went to a friend's house after his step-father had taken his faulty kitchen lights down. My friend had bought new lighting units, but couldn't figure out how to wire them up. His house tools were useless, and while I had a pliers tool (I forget which) and a Swiss knife in my pockets, neither had a screwdriver which fit electrical connectors. The only tool I had which fit, was the nail file on a Vic Manager, and had to refit all his kitchen lights with just that. While some folks do deride LM's tendency to flood a tool with flat drivers, this one at least is very well sized, and I wished I had this when I did that job. The small driver is perfect for electrical connectors. :2tu: The Sideclip is better than the PST in this respect, as the small driver on that is too small for these connectors. Of course the long reach Phillips is great for the recessed screws often found in that kind of work too.

That was one of my (many) gripes with the Rebar. The best flat driver for that kind of work, is tapered, and so can't access recessed screws. It looks like they repeated the faux pas on the upcoming Free line too.

Some really nice pics already.

Interesting to see the OEM shiny one has a different plier head to the matt one.

Here are mine.

 :iagree:

Very nice pic of a beautiful multitool, the old Leatherman tools are perfect when you want to make such beautiful pics (well, old Leatherman tools, new "old style" Leatherman tools like the Rebar and the ST300 and last but not least, the Swisstool).

Just my 2 cents  ;).

As some folks know I'm definitely a fan of the Sideclip.  It's all Al's fault of course, he had an "extra" one he was willing to let go.  :D

Annoyingly I also have to agree with him about it being a near perfect pliers companion to your SAK of choice.
