It's still an option at the Deutsche Post online service https://www.portokalkulator.de/portokalkulator/std ...
Oh dear, it looks like CeHo might be onto something.I dug deep into the small print - German isn't my first language so this isn't something I've bothered with before - and true enough, the cheapo variant of sending stuff abroad is only for documents. This comes as a nasty shock as I have been sending stuff for years all over the world using the good old Eur6.20 Registered Large Letter method. ("Large Letter" may have been a clue...)Anyway - knowing this certainly makes me uneasy about sending numerous Outriders all over the world. Probably the smart thing to do at this stage is to forget the whole thing.I would suggest refunding everyone their money. This is the easiest option for me and the safest for everyone else - nobody has lost anything. The only other option is that you as individuals decide to take a gamble. I send the Outrider as planned and we hope for the best. At least if it's registered it can't just simply disappear. On the other hand nobody knows what happens when the German or US or Oz postal system discovers i've used to wrong postage method.I will PM everyone tomorrow this message to make sure everyone got it. Thanks for pointing out this fatal flaw in my calculation, CeHo. And my apologies to everyone for being an idiot and wasting your time on this. I will start refunding first thing tomorrow, unless anyone decides they want the "take a gamble" option", or unless anyone has some brilliant ideas. My sincerest apologies for this shambles.
I don't think there should be much of a problem sending it in a bubble mailer, especially within the EU. More or less the same rules applied for all bubble mailers for years, but I don't think any of us had a problem sending stuff out with them. If it doesn't have to clear customs, the usually don't even ask at the post office what's in the package/envelope. But if they make trouble, the "small" package per DHL up to 2kg within EU is €9. In the worst case, you could send mine to one of my relatives or friends in DE, and they can then bring it to me when they come on holiday. Better option than you getting stuck with 10 Outriders.
Ooh, look what just arrived...(Image removed from quote.)
I know you like your boxes, Folder! I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't get squished in transit.
Anyway, I opted for a legit postage method (DHL PÄCKCHEN International mit Nachweis) so I am confident everything will arrive safely.
The second bunch of Outriders arrived yesterday and all the ones that have been paid for have been posted:ExeterNathanMyronThere are some tracking numbers which don't seem to do anything. Never mind, each parcel is insured to 50 euros.I'll PM you guys with those useless tracking numbers shortly.Meanwhile, I hope next week the first lot start landing in America and her Majesty's former colonies Down Under.
Sorry Mike, All gone.
