Mystery emblem...........
on: May 05, 2019, 07:12:03 PM
Picked up this tiny metal handled model today at the flea market and was wondering if anyone recognized this company emblem. I know it's a long shot but I like to ID logos if I can.Nice little knife for 50 cents.

I put the image into both Bing and Google Images. Nothing showed up; though Google did give a result for "Number" but no annotation to a company.  It looks like a hand gripping a wire, or an electrical component. Personally, I think the logo might have something to do with the electrical/electronic or industrial automation industry.

Nice knife! Especially nice at 50 cents. I'd consider 50 cents a steal for a regular Classic, let alone a metal-scaled Broker.

Thanks for the replies. I too thought it was a fist gripping something or possibly some type of electronic circuit symbol. Not super important;I'm just curious about logos such as this because one of the things I used to do was design logos and signs for companies.I still do but on a much reduced basis.

What a challenge.  Maybe if y'all can date the SAK then we can possibly find a company around that same time period  :dunno:

The logo seems vaguely reminiscent of the logo used by a branch of Dutch law enforcement translated by Wikipedia to Special Enforcement Officers (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_enforcement_in_the_Netherlands), at least pictorially. I don't know if there is any link though.
Cheers!

The blue logo you show is the logo that is used by Dutch law enforcement officers that are called "BOA". BOA means Bijzonder Opsporingsambtenaar, which is something like Special Law Enforcing Servant. These officers have limited investigative jurisdiction (only for certain laws) and are normally not armed. Regular Dutch police officers have general jurisdiction and can enforce any law; they are also armed.
The blue logo has nothing to do with the logo on the knife. That knife logo has never bee used by any police organisation in The Netherlands. Sorry!

Thanks for confirming that EMZ, I suspected as much, despite the vague similarity... The search goes on!

It's a prisoner's hand clutching a bar of a cell window.
Every inmate at Alcatraz was given one of these Classics by Paramount Pictures, to celebrate the success of the 1979 hit "Escape from Alcatraz".

Though I could be lying.

If it's a hand grasping something why is the thumb in the front with the fingers,

Good to see there is another example out there. In my part of the world the word "logo" denotes a design symbolizing what the company manufactures or the like. An "ensign" is flag or a pennant.

I got nothing over the past couple of days. I always think it's tough to find businesses or organizations that may have disappeared before the interwebs.

It's a cool knife. Good luck with the search.

If a SAK guru/nerd can "date" the piece based on whatever markings on the blade/model, and you can confirm region of purchase, it might assist in searching for businesses or associations that were in that area in that time frame.
