91mm SAK Family - Current and Discontinued
on: May 06, 2019, 07:07:36 PM
As requested, here are the final two PDFs showing the current and discontinued 91mm SAK family groups, for placing in the SAK / Swisstool dating and identification resources stickie.  :tu:

The diagrams are quite straightforward to understand. They've helped me figure out the relationships and groupings across the 91mm range, based on some simple rules of adding tools to the base platform. The diagram type is called a cladogram (thanks Sawl Goodman for pointing this out).

The images below are low-res, but the PDFs print out at a suitable size on A4/letter. A3 even better. They are free to use so long as not for commercial benefit.

Yes, I do plan to work through all the families...needs some planning on the layout, but the concept will work with all the sizes and SAKWiki is a great reference. Just finding the time.  :salute:

More awesome work, Max! Maximum cool. 8)

It is nice to see a cladogram outside of evolutionary biology and phylogenetic study. Topics I enjoy, but a SAK cladogram, it's next level awesome to an MT nut... :dd:

Thanks gustophersmob and GLBM.  :hatsoff:

I must admit it’s quite fun trying to get the relationships aligned across the family as the layer sizes grow. Need to give some thought to the next family to target. Possibly the 58mm.

Off the cuff, flippant, provocative remark ....

I wouldn't bother - they are nearly all two layer - and all the two layer models are  Classics anyway !!!

I am sure you will come up with something imaginative !!

Mmm...  may then dive into the 84mm family next as these are closely related to the 91mm.

93mm could be pretty easy to tackle next.  Not too many different models.

Any plans to venture into Wenger territory?

Wenger is a minefield of model lines and the whole Vic takeover and rebrand exercise complicates it further! I’ll need a few days to think about the best approach for them...

But I like the 93mm idea. Maybe expand it to Alox as a broader family. I’ll need to do a count of total models and variations to see how viable that is.  :tu:

Agree on all points, g'man. I too am enjoying seeing cladograms in "civilian" applications.
