How many of you have some vertical play in your lockbacks?  I have quite a bit in my Pacific Salt and was just wondering of this was a common thing?

Mai, on my Manix. I remedied mine by tightening up the lock bar, but I don't think you can do that on a Salt. Since it's pinned, I guess you have to live with it. It's fairly common, as lockbacks often develope a bit of play with use...but nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks for the input Brendan.  I guess the most important thing is that the lock holds and is therefore safe, which it is.  I'll just have to get past the small amount of play.  :)

You got over the SwissTool play, so this should be a piece of cake!

I have very different expectations over my folders.  Especially when some of my folders cost considerably more than my MT's.

Too much blade play in all of my Spydies lately. One reason I don't buy too many anymore. :(  I did snag that T-Mag for $50 and that is a great knife for the $$$.

I think they are over the top on the tough tactical image, also overpriced.

None of mine has any play.

For those saying they have no play, try opening the blade and then push the blade down on a hard surface ( as if you were going to cut something).  Mine "clicks" where there is a small amount of play in the lock.

Hmm, that sounds like the back lock pivot hole on either lock bar or handle is larger than necessary.

Quite possibly yes.

Safety wise it's fine, but it is a bit annoying when you feel the blade move when you are doing some cutting that requires some pressure.

My Salt I has no verticle play but has developed horizonal play. D4W locks up tight. Native lock up is still good. This summer I sent 3 different spyderco knives back because of serious quality issues. Two because of bad blades and one for the lock up.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

I have a dragonfly (at least I think that is what it is called) for years now and had/have some ladybugs. No play as far as I can remember, at least not noticable otherwise I would remember.

I think the play I have is pretty neglegable TBH, but because I had warranty issues with the first Pacific Salt I bought (lock bar stuck up a lot) I checked this one very carefully and noticed it.  Now of course, it bugs the hell out of me.  ::)

I just checked my two older Pacific Salts and both have a tiny amount of vertical play with a click. I had never even noticed it before.
