That's one of the things I'm most looking forward to Aloha - Being able to come home and switch out of work mode.  :ahhh oh, and the epaulettes and cloak.
Don't forget acting as the wise old mentor to the passing rude younglings.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Is the new place going to be dog-friendly?

With epaulettes, a cloak and a metal hat I can't help but look impressive and wise. The younglings will have to accept my advice on everything from the facebooks and twitting, to which SAK is best to take to a Grime disco.

No, poor Bonnie will be homeless and the prize in my latest GAW

just kidding - we looked long and hard for a pet friendly landlord and were very lucky to find one.  :tu:

I find the energy of youngins to be contagious.  Some find them annoying but having volunteered for so many years and coaching football ( American ) I become energized by them.  Being able to turn off work mode to relax will be a new lease.  Will you find work for the U Boat crew or will you leave them to the new skipper?  Is it skipper or something else a U Boat Captian ( ? ) is called?

That's good to know. Having worked with older people for 5 years, I feel I've aged double that - I hope to get some energy back in my new place.

The crew have proved loyal through thick and thin and so are coming with me to our new appointment. I am holding seminars in hygiene and social etiquette in order to help them acclimatise to life in society. Many of them have never seen the sun or a toilet.

What's on day one then?
How to brush your teeth (no wait, those have all fallen out.)
How to brush your gums, then?
Day one -
9am. Fruit: What is it? how to eat it and keep it down
10am. Fresh vegetables - What are they? how to eat them and keep them down
11am. Cheese- what it actually is, and what I always told you it was.
12pm. Living without scurvy - The ins and outs.
2pm - Daylight! Don't be scared of it - it contains vitamin D!
3.30pm. Role play - a visit to the social security office
4.30pm. Debrief (and why that no longer means taking your pants off, and the trouble you can get into for thinking in the 'U Boat way'

Day two -
9am. Recap (not putting your hat on)
10am. Toilets - what are they and how to use them
4.30pm. Debrief

Day three -
9am Recap
9.15am. Topics for pleasant conversation
10am. How to get what you need without use of fists or other weapons.
2pm. Public obscenity laws, an overview
3pm. Not everything is an innuendo
4.30pm. Graduation

Congrats on the new position! Lots of opportunities on campus to use multi tools! 30-day challenges would be right in line with a proper academic study.  :pok:  Every day a new task and a new face.

Can't do that syncy me old mate. The hotel where we're holding the seminar wants a fifty pounds deposit for the salty seadogs to learn to use the toilet so I'm having to pull in a favour from my arch enemy Darren Mattingly. We can use his camping bog for two quid and a go on Fuzzys General Lee go-cart.

Just reading this now Mags.  Huge congratulations mate.   I've almost always enjoyed my career as a maintenance engineer and might even get back to it one day. :D  Are you joining a big team or is it all by yourself?
