I went into a store this evening looking for something else and saw these Atlas Trade 4½lb axes on clearance for $15NZD (less than $10USD). I couldn't leave the store without buying one. Heck
ydern, cheap axes or even just handles cost at least three times that here. It's made in China but has a 25 year warranty.
I picked the best looking one out of the three left - the grain lines were closer together (which I figured might be stronger
) and run almost vertical, although it does run out a little on the sides in some places.
It's nothing fancy but most of my garden tools are this brand and I am happy with them. Feels OK in the hand although I am yet to give it a proper swing.
Oh and it kinda matches my Bahco hatchet.
